"I'm sorry, detectives." Said the hospital attendant, rushing around them in the busy hospital. He blew blonde bangs from his eyes. "We've got traces of spermicide but no semen or DNA." Both Elliot and Olivia sighed, following after them.
"Of course not." Said Elliot dejectedly.
"Any chance we could speak to our Vic?" Olivia asked, her face hopeful. The attendant glowered.
"She was bludgeoned so bad her brain bled. She's on life support..." They followed his arm, pointing to a room nearby. "She's in there." With that he took off, his hands full of files. Olivia looked at Elliot and the slowly walked in, no sounds but the sterile beeps of the infirmary.
"God," Olivia sighed. Elliot shook his head.
"A damn shame." He said as they both stared at the beaten and bruised woman in the hospital bed.
"I don't," Olivia started, looking away from the hospital bed. "If something ever happens..."
"Don't." Elliot interrupted. "Don't talk like that." He frowned, unable to even consider something devastating happening to her.
"No, Elliot. Really." He looked to her, the machines wheezing around them. "I don't really have any next of kin." Dread fell over him, realizing how lonely Olivia must get at times.
"I... I couldn't-"
"You have to." She cut in, her eyes shining. "I wouldn't..." He sighed, frustrated he wasn't really prepared to deal with this at the moment.
"What if something happened to me? What would you do?" He countered, his eyes avoiding hers.
"I'd bring Kathy and your kids to come make a choice" He sighed.
"You're too important for me to make that decision." He admitted, his shoulders sagging. Olivia smiled confidently, turning to exit.
"I trust you, Elliot." Before he could refute or respond she was out the door.
