Tony watched the snowflakes land on his hand and melt away. The silence was deafening. He could hear the church bells in the distance and see his breath in the cold night air. Fifteen below and getting colder. Tony glanced at his watch, willing it to move faster, but it didn't happen. He looked up at the night sky again.
"Hope you're looking, I'm doing what you asked me Kate" Tony said and blinked away a tear, "I'm moving on, like you asked me to do if you passed away.. though maybe not in the way you would think" Tony said with a chuckle and looked down, almost as if he was embarrassed. Then he looked back up, tears in his eyes. "I know it's not what you would pick as first choice for me but it's what I want" Tony said and twisted his ring around. It was a beautiful golden ring with an inscription.
"Forever, love G"
Tony looked at it again.
"Bought this for a christmas present.. isn't it nice?" Tony asked and looked back up again, "I mean.. I simply love it" he said as he looked back down on his ring. "Caught me totally by surprise, didn't think.. I mean.. didn't think that he loved me this way" Tony said, "He can be a real hibrido sometimes, but hey, I love him.. I don't really know what to tell you about it all Kate" Tony said, a quiet sob escaping his lips, "I'm so sorry you had to go.. Sometimes I wish it was me but.. but right now I'm.. I'm happy.. I think I'm happy right now.. right here, with Gibbs" Tony said and blinked away some tears.
"Tony?" Gibbs's voice asked and Tony quickly wiped away the stray tears from his face.
"Hi" Tony said and smiled a sad smile.
"Are you crying? Why are you crying?" Gibbs asked and embraced Tony, a frown on his face as he ran a hand through Tony's hair.
"Kate" Tony said simply, and Gibbs's expression softened as he hugged Tony close. "I mean, I didn't know what to say, because it's not fair that she went, but if she hadn't gone I wouldn't have found you, and now I'm happy.. is that wrong of me? To be happy right now? She's dead Jet.. and here I am, happy for the second time in my life.. not many people get to do that" Tony rambled as Gibbs started swinging them from side to side. "What're you doing?" Tony asked after a while.
"Dancing" Gibbs said simply and spun Tony around once before embracing him and looking into Tony's emerald green eyes. "It's not wrong to be happy Tony.. remember, I lost someone too, and I've come to peace with it" Gibbs said and smiled sadly.
"Looks like we're both a little guilt ridden" Tony said. "My hero" he finished.
"Hero? What for?" Gibbs asked and raised an eyebrow.
"For saving me from myself" Tony said and laid his head on Gibbs's shoulder as Gibbs rocked them both from side to side. Gibbs planted a kiss on top of Tony's head and smiled.
"Forever Tony.. forever"
