A/N This is for Emily, because her cat, Jingles, ran away a week ago. She didn't really want me to write this, but even though it made her miss her more, it also made her feel slightly better. We're still hoping that Jingles comes back.
"Merow," I purred, rubbing myself around Emily's legs.
"Awww! Missus Jingles!" she bent down and picked me up, curling up with me on the soft patio chair.
"Meow." I replied, allowing myself to be cuddled. I'm not usually like this, all lovable and cuddly. Usually, I'm aloof and independent. Since I was leaving tonight though, I had decided to make this my good-bye.
Lifting my head up, I looked her in her placid blue-grey eyes. She looked back and kissed my forehead. Of my five humans, I would miss Emily the most. She never played favorites between the four animals that lived here, and always thought I was the prettiest.
'Emily!" came a shout from inside the house. "Time for dinner!"
Sensing that this was my time to leave, I leaped off of Emily with a meow, and went inside the house. The kits and parents were gathered around the fresh kill. Emily went to join them, and I sat politely with my tail curled up over my paws, in front of the door.
"Good-bye." I meowed to them.
"Not now Jingles! Go eat from your bowl." The female said.
Cocking my head slightly to the side, I looked at them sadly, turned around, and left.
Slinking around the backyard, I leaped on the fence and, with that, left all that I had previously known and cared for behind. As I headed into the forest ahead, a voice came from out of the bushes.
"So, you've decided to come after all."
