Winter Rose

It breaks my heart to know he is in pain

Tenderness wanes under a cruel frost

This coldness threatens to devour his soul

The spark that sets his eyes aflame is lost…

It hurts me immensely to see him this way

For him to lose the things he had held dear

This growing pain has left him in dismay

I see it behind his frowns that appear…

In the midst of those moments, I shed a tear.

How can others not see that he walks on with apathy?

I can't let this go on when I care for him so

There is no need for him to tread alone

When all he needs is an enlightening glow.

Gazing at the sky above, with hues of sapphire

I fold my fingers for an evening prayer

To bring the soothing warmth of a healing fire,

And to help rid you of the ice, this I swear.

Doubting my caring for you, do not dare!

Let me be your winter rose, to bloom when it snows

My sweet fragrance allows your wounds to heal

The touch of my lips to your cheek will be warm

A shade of pink will be hard to conceal.
