"Marie! Stay here!" a young hedgehog girl stared up at her mother. "Mama! Where are you going?" she asked. Her mother smiled sadly, but the girl didn't notice. "Don't worry, Ann-Marie. I'll be right back, I promise." Ann-Marie looked up and nodded. "Okay, momma. I'll wait in the closet for you." she nodded happily. "Take this, sweetie." the mother took out a red hankerchief and handed it to her. "As long as you have it, i'll always be with you. Now go in." Ann-Marie questioned her mother, but obeyed her orders, clutching onto the hankerchief. The mother closed the closet mother turned around, her pink hair swaying slightly as she ran out the house, tears coming out of her eyes.
Ann-Marie stayed in the closet for 5 hours, before she got hungry and came out. "Mama? I'm hungry! Where are you?" she called, in her high pitched voice. Ann-Marie held onto the hankerchief that her mother had given her. She wandered around the house, noticing the burn marks and how dirty the house was. Pillows and various pictures for scattered around on the floor. Even broken glass littered on the floor. She wandered the house even more, arriving at her mother's bedroom last. "M-mama?" she called, slightly scared, tears were starting to drip from her eyes.
"Intruder! Intruder!" she heard a robotic voice and she cried out in fear as a robot approached her. The robot grabbed her. "Nooo!" she cried out. Suddenly, a bright light shined, causing Ann-Marie to close her fell onto the ground, letting out a small cry of pain. She slowly opened her eyes, seeing the robot nowhere around, she stood up. "M-Mama..." she murmured, trying to keep the tears in her eyes from falling.
She remembered the hankerchief and opened her hands. It was the last memory she had of her mom. She tied it around her neck, letting out a small sob. Her clothes were dirty, but it used to be a pretty red dress that her mother had sewn to fit her.
Her hands shook as she ran out of her mother's room, and then out of the house. Her eyes widened. She coughed at all the smoke that surrounded her house. "Mama, please come home!" she shouted as loud as she could, but was almost sure that no one was there to hear her. She coughed again, deciding to use the hankerchief as a cover, so she could breath better. She ran down the small path that lead out to the forest, the forest her mother had told her not to go in. "I just have to be a big girl." she murmured as she found herself running towards the forest.
So, what do you think? Of course, the first chapter is supposed to publish part of her past, and how she lost her mother, so it's a bit sort. But the next one will be a lot longer, since it'll actually contain the 'current' time or whatever. Also, a bit of mystery for who her mother is, yay~
