EPOV
A new school, a new start, I reminded myself as I drove towards Forks High School. The relentless cover of cloud had not parted for one day since I arrived 4 days ago. A crowd of kids my age blocked the last parking space, so not wanting to draw attention to myself; I drove towards the office to get my timetable. The warm inviting office was a bitter reminder of Phoenix, my home. I missed everything about it, especially the sun. The woman that sat behind the large desk looked at me over her glasses that were perched on the end of her nose, "Umm, I'm Edward Mason..." I was unsure of how to address the receptionist, so I chose not to. "Edward! Of course! I have your timetable here; you also have to give this slip to each of your teachers at the start of each lesson." She chirped. She handed me the forms to sign and with a reassuring smile from the kind woman I left the office and wandered towards my first class. The first four classes went fast, and by the time lunch came I had even managed to learn a few people's names. At lunch I sat with a group of people who I recognised some of, but if I didn't already know them, they were chatting animatedly towards me by time the table was full. Every time the door opened I would look towards it, instincts I guess. By the fourth or fifth cluster of people entered the cafeteria, I just tried to involve myself in the conversation. "Edward, this is Tyler, Ben, Connor, Lauren, Jessica and Angela" the boy who I remembered to be called Mike informed me. "Hey" they all said in unison, and burst out laughing.
I took this opportunity to look around the room, as I was doing so, five of the most beautiful people I had ever seen walked into the cafeteria. "Hey, who are they?" I asked Mike, who was also watching the new arrivals as they passed our table. "Them? They're the Cullens." He mumbled. I just looked at him blankly, causing him to sigh. "The two at the front, that's Rosalie and Emmett, and then Alice and Jasper and then that's Bella." He sighed the last name. "So what, they're all like brother and sister?" I asked him. "No, Jasper and Rosalie are brother and sister, but they were adopted by Esme and Carlisle Cullen when they were only young. Then they adopted Bella, Alice and Emmett about 2 years after, but like, Rosalie and Emmet, and, Alice and Jasper are like, together, together." He told me. "Is that even legal? I mean they all live together" Jessica said, whilst the Cullens sat down. "Chill Jess, they aren't even related." Angela pointed out. Even though they weren't related there was a resemblance in their eyes and deathly pale skin tone. Their eyes were molten butterscotch which was a startling contrast between the dark circles that were prominent in all their faces. As I watched them, the one called Bella looked straight at me, her golden eyes burning into mine, I couldn't be sure but it looked like she was talking under her breath, but her adoptive siblings were all looking away. I looked away quickly, but I asked Mike under my breath if she was still staring. "Yeah" He replied looking down.
The rest of lunch passed quickly, I had Biology next and then Gym with Mike. As I headed to the science block I noticed Rosalie and Alice Cullen watching me walk away whilst Emmett and Jasper looked on protectively, the arrangement looked planned almost as if they were expecting a danger to appear, and had done this before. When I walked into biology I handed the teacher my slip, as he gave it back to me, he pointed me to a free place on the front bench, it looked like I would be sat alone, but as I took my place the chair next to me moved back, so I Iooked up to see who I would be sat with, only to look away almost immediately. It was Bella Cullen.
