You forget until you see him: smooth face smirking down at you, head bobbing easily in the dark. He's heavy on your shoulders, your thighs, knuckles threading through your shirt; smells like beer and cold fresh air, that deodorant and leather and jeans that need washing. You think, I'll kill him, but further in where you can't control there's something else, warm and sure and overwhelming everything, until you remember it's possible to be with another person and not pretend, at all.
You go with him to the car. When your fingers graze the door handle, you know you're home.
