Author's note: I know it's been a while since I've uploaded or updated anything and I'm sorry. Life has been a little hectic and I hope my loyal readers will forgive me. I promise to get more written as soon as possible. The story was inspired by Disney's Beauty and the Beast song Something There. I do not own InuYasha or the song :'(

Kagome sat on a hill overlooking the village. She had returned to the past a week ago and was still adjusting to all of the changes that had occurred while she was gone.

Especially in InuYasha.

While he had improved towards the end of their journey, thr hanyou she left behind is not the one she returned to.

As she sat on the hill she began reminiscing on their journey.

InuYasha had definitely had some rough edges when they met.

Kikyo, Kikyo, Kikyo. Even this weird guy stuck to this tree couldn't get her name right. And some thanks for her releasing him from the tree, he tried to kill her!

Kagome chuckled at the memory. Yes, they certainly had a rough start.

InuYasha approached Kagome sitting on the hill. She'd been home a week and he still couldn't believe she had come back. He couldn't believe that she had given up so much to come back to him. Years ago he would never have believed it possible. But boy had Kagome proven him wrong.

He remembered when they met, she had not been afraid of him. Annoyed, but not afraid. People were always afraid of him. He was half demon, it came with the territory. But not her.

He heard her giggle and he smiled.

Kagome continued her trip down memory lane.

She remembered the first time he gave her his fire rat for protection. She had thought her did not care for her, but he had proved her wrong.

She remembered him telling her she smelled nice and how it made her heart race.

She remembered when she realized she loved him and knew her life would never be the same. It shocked her at first, discovering how much she loved him. She wondered how it could've happened. As she looked back she saw all she had missed before, all of the little things that made her fall in love with him.

InuYasha finally approached Kagome and sat beside her and waited for her to notice him.

Kagome noticed him sitting next to her, noted how quietly and patiently he waited for her to speak. He had become patient in her absence. She had also seen him playing with Sango and Miroku's children, he had become much kinder and gentler in her absence as well.

Remembering how he acted when he met Shippo, she never would've imagined he would be good with kids. All of the fighting and arguing those two did, all the mean words and bops on the head had made her believe that he would never be good with kids.

He also seemed to think more before he said things. Gone were the coarse words and rough behaviors.

Now he was so wonderful. He was so dear, so sweet and attentive to her; though he was still a little skittish when Sango and Miroku's baby started crying.

Yes, looking back she could laugh at herself for not seeing all of the signs before.

"What's so funny?" Apparently her laugh had not been internal.

"Just thinking," she said smiling at him.

"About what?"

"Us. How far we've come. If you recall, we weren't exactly two peas in a pod when we met," she answered giggling.

InuYasha's cheeks got a light pink dusting.

"Yeah, I don't think I ever apologized for that."

Kagome laughed, "I guess it all worked out in the end." She leaned on his shoulder.

InuYasha looked down at her. 'Yeah, we may have had a rough time but it was all worth it and I would do it again if it meant having you.'

Author's Note: Yep, it was a short one. One of the shortest I've written, but the idea wouldn't leave me alone. Until next time!
