Summary: Lelouch is not used to failure. Yet, there is a first time for everything.
Set during episode 4
This would have been the first time in his journey that he failed. Epically. At first, Lelouch couldn't understand why. Why his idiotic friend from…forever would refuse his offer.
"Britannia is rotten. If you want to change the world, then join me!"
Lelouch had saved him from a certain death, whisked him out of that nightmare, yet, Suzaku had refused. Refused! Instead, he had smiled that soft smile and turned his back to Zero, and walked right -back into Britannia's not-so-welcoming arms, head held high and confident.
"If I'm going to die, I want to do it for the sake of everyone."
Lelouch had a hard time concealing his shock. In fact, he was so shocked he almost gave himself-Zero-away.
"You are being stupid!"
"An old friend used to tell me all the time that I was being stupid."
Then, Suzaku had turned and walked away, past the group of rebels who would soon be known as the Black Knights, and-unknowingly-away from his best friend.
He had gone, just like that. And Lelouch had his first taste of failure. Funny how the second also revolved around Suzaku.
