Alone. Again.
With everything that happened at Sun Hill Station, an officers personal life was often overlooked. They were expected to work, and work, and work until a case was solved.
It wasn't until the events of this story that one PC Beth Green realised this, and began to wonder if the police was the right thing for her.
A/N: None of these characters belong to me apart from Jamie. The rest are the characters in a TalkbackThames programme called The Bill. A show you probably know well if you are reading this. I'll probably update this disclaimer as the story goes on.
This is my first fanfic for The Bill, so I'm keeping fingers crossed it's all okay!
Hope you enjoy!!
Chapter One – Happy as Larry
"Do you really have to go?" Jamie had whispered in Beth's ear that morning, holding her close as she kissed his cheek, nodding, a motion which made his arms tighten around her small form even more.
Dressed casually in a pair of low slung jeans and an off the shoulder top, Beth smiled up at him. "'Fraid so... If I don't go, there's one less person on the beat to play cops and robbers, isn't there? And the cops are already outnumbered as it is," she grinned, pulling her coat off the hook. "I'll be finished by seven though... we can go out for dinner or... go and see a film or something. Promise. Tonight I'll be home on time even if I have to go against the Inspector."
Kissing him one more time, Beth ran out of the door, putting her coat on as she headed down the street to her second home – Sun Hill Police Station.
Life had been different before Jamie had come along, Beth mused as she walked down the street, her cold hands buried in her pockets. She'd spent most nights round at her parents house, exhausted from a days work. Now, it was as though a second life filled her when she walked out of the station and went back to his flat, a lot bigger than her own, and somewhere she much preferred to be. It meant a shorter walk home for starters.
Looking both ways before she crossed the road, Beth continued thinking to herself. Jamie... he worked in media, webmedia, as a journalist for various websites that required their news updating and looking far more presentable than they could possibly manage. He sat in an office from nine in the morning until five in the evening, and then went home to wait for Beth.
To wait for her... it was more than she could have ever hoped. Pulling her mobile phone out of her pocket, the dark haired officer noticed a text message on there. Upon opening it, the clichéd text "Missing you already" was on there. Giggling to herself, Beth shook her head and replied "Miss you more" before heading into the locker rooms of Sun Hill Station happy as Larry.
