Authors Note: I just kind of felt like writing this... No idea why, just wanted to put the story of Alanna and Georges wedding down on paper!

Disclaimer: I own none of Tamora Pierce's characters - got that? None of em! So don't sue me!

Lady

Sir Alanna, knight of the Realm of Tortall, sat before a body mirror, her purple eyes examining the lady that lay in the reflection before her. "I...I'm beautiful." She murmured, running her hands over the fine fabric that rested nicely on her body.

And beautiful, she certainly was. Today was Alanna's wedding day, a day of joy and happiness, and a day she never thought would come. It had taken years for her beloved to convince her... But finally, Alanna gave in, seeing the truth of the matter and finally taking the Goddesses advice to love.

Closing her eyes, Alanna ran her hands over her body, taking in the feeling of the fine silk that she was wrapped in. Opening her eyes to the reflection once more, Alanna bit her lip. She saw the lady she was afraid of... The lady she might have become if she had went to the convent.

Her long, flaming red hair was piled on top of her head, several delicate ringlets dropping down about her face like wisps of magic sparkling in twilight. Her violet eyes were bright against her fair skin, accentuated by the lavender eye shadow that was painted on her eyelids. Alanna's dress was far from her normal attire, the slightly lavender tinted white silk clung to her every move, making her feel elegant and beautiful in every way. The beautiful gown had a low neck, sweeping just above her breasts where the Goddesses token lay on a fine silver chain. Despite the way the dress hugged her body, it still allowed her full range of movement, allowing Alanna the full comfort that she was so afraid of losing. She felt like a Queen in such attire... But she could still find Sir Alanna amongst all the beauty and fluff for just beneath the ruffled skirts of her gown laid a deadly dagger strapped to her calf, just in case anything was to happen.

Taking a deep breath, Alanna turned away from the mirror and to her lady friends that stood in back of her. There, dressed in lavender satin, stood Thayet, Buri, Eleni Cooper, and Rispah, all four of them positively beaming with pride as they saw her.

"You look beautiful!" Rispah gasped, the first to speak as she examined her inch by inch, "No one would have known that only a couple years ago I met you as a wee lad!" She exclaimed, shaking her head and curling a hair behind her ear.

Alanna chuckled at Rispah's comment and shook her head. "I can't look that good," She murmured humbly as she turned to her other friends with a smile.

"Alanna, she's right," Buri mumbled, in normal gruff tone. "You look like you've been a lady all your life." Alanna flinched at this comment; this was exactly what she had been expecting and exactly what she didn't want... Perhaps she would have been better off sticking to something less conventional for her wedding...

Shaking her head at the way Alanna flinched, Thayet smiled, "You look wonderful," She said, giving her an encouraging hug around the shoulders, "Don't worry one bit."

Alanna returned the smile, she was beginning to feel stiff beneath her skin as she realized she really was getting married... Closing her eyes and biting her lip, she thought about her groom and wondered just what he was doing right about now...

A/N: Well, that's the first chapter... It's not great, but I like the description on her dress - oh and I promise some action later in the story... There will be a twist! Not everything will go as planned... :)
