Hi everyone! This is my first Lord of the Rings fanfiction I've ever wrote, I hope you enjoy. It's set after the books, and it's supposed to confuse you at the end. I hope you enjoy everyone, and may the Force be with you.

I dedicate this to my wonderful fans and friends

The Elfling

Buried deep within the forests was a small house. It resembled that of a Hobbit hole. Warm and small and cozy. A Hobbit would love it here, but no Hobbit had been near the warm shelter in many, many years. The one who did live here was a young elf of the name Merida.

A young elf indeed, one of that age would still be living comfortably within their parents reach. Merida's parents on the other hand had been killed many years before. She lived on her own, secluded from any one else besides the forest animals living with her in the deep evergreen forest of Algore. She stood quite short for an elf, but tall enough that her dark hair would just graze on the ceiling of her home.

The young elf was sleeping quite soundly in her bed. The great sun bore its rays into the windows and casted its light in Merida's pale face. Her bright blue eyes fluttered open.

Squinting in the brightness she stood from her slumber and pulled a warm green bathrobe over her crisp cotton nightgown.

The forest around her home gave her any food she may need; with enough herbs and greens to keep an elf full for days.

Ducking beneath an awning Merida passed by the only mirror in her home. A small rounded mirror that only shown her image from her waist up. The mirror would have been huge for a Hobbit, but to an elf, well, it was barely large enough.

She looked at her own reflection for a moment. Her dark blonde hair curled slightly at the ends, each wave falling far beyond her waist. Her young eyes were a stunning crystal blue, as were her mothers. Merida smiled gently, her nimble fingers grasped the small pendant around the gold chain she wore. She glanced down at the gold band. Casted in warm letters bore the words of Sauron himself:

One Ring to rule them all

One ring to find them

One ring to rule them all and in the darkness bind them.
