Title: Instincts
Disclaimer: I had a dream about Goren last night, does that count?
Summary: She kissed Goren. Tiny little thing.
Note: Basically the season opener made me sad, so I wrote this little thing to make me feel better. I'd originally started out with this three+ pages thing where Goren pushes her up against the wall (all in the name of science!) but my computer ate it and I grew weary at the thought of rewriting it.
Anyway, enjoy!
She really wasn't in the mood for this.
Eames was already angry enough at Goren, so she really didn't need this.
Here was two hot shot college boys who were not only hitting on her, but making fun of Goren (if only she hadn't given her name when they asked for it, apparently one of the guys had the male equivalent of her's) as some sort of mating ritual.
Take out the toughest (in this case tallest) guy in the bar or something, Eames didn't really care enough to pay attention in Psychology.
But she really didn't appreciate it.
Because it meant her natural instincts kicked in.
The instincts that had nothing to do with trivial emotions (like righteous indignation or wounded pride) and instead felt the need to protect her partner.
Even if he was being a jerk.
A stupid, jerk.
So when these two boys called over Goren when she told them point blank he was a nice guy and to leave him alone, snickering and well, being obnoxious, Eames did the first thing that came to mind.
She kissed Goren.
Standing up when he approached, she grabbed his face and gave him a kiss that would have put Disney (with Harps and singing birds) to shame.
"Tobius and Alexander, meet my partner, Robert Goren."
They soon scattered after that.
Picking up her drink, she looked at Goren, head tilted, who was staring at her as if she'd just defused a bomb or was wearing white shoes after labor day.
It was nice staring though.
And her ill-feelings toward him softened a bit when she noticed the crooked tie and bed-head hair she'd created.
With a smile she fixed his tie and then spoke,
"This doesn't mean I'm any less angry with you."
And then Goren smiled, his own matching hers.
"I wouldn't expect any less."
Although honestly, Goren was more than a little bit confused.
But he hadn't seen her smile like that at him in a long time, and reasoned that no matter what happened, Eames smiling was always good.
End- Now shoo, go review.
