Hey everyone. This story was written for Arts and Crafts: Crafting 101 assignment, World of Orphans on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I wrote for the Extra Credit Task 13 which was to write an Artist!AU. For World of Orphans I wrote for 13. Dorothy Gale - (color) Emerald Green. I hope you all enjoy Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder.
The colors swirled in her mind as Pansy Parkinson began to think out her next great piece of art. It wasn't a very difficult process for her. She just took the emotions she felt inside and tried to get them out onto the canvas. Every time her thought process would bring her back to him. Harry Potter. She just didn't know how to capture him in the medium that she was used to painting in. She was more of an abstract artist. She wasn't sure that anyone besides her would know how to look at her paintings.
"What are painting?" came a voice from behind her making Pansy jump a bit.
Seeing splotch of emerald green paint going across the center of the scarlet paint she wanted to put her head in her hands and sob. That wasn't something she'd wanted to happen and she planned on cursing out the person who'd scared. She really had but upon turning and finding Harry Potter behind her she had formulate another answer.
"It's supposed to be an abstract portrait of someone I knew in Hogwarts," she told him with a smile. Pansy hadn't exactly been the most friendliest person while at Hogwarts. It was evident especially when she had suggested that they hand over Harry to the Dark Lord. So she wasn't sure that she should realy admit that it was supposed to be him.
"It's beautiful," he told her looking in awe at it. "Who is it supposed to be though?"
"It's...uh...um...supposed to be...y-you."
He took a closer look at her work squinting a little bit as he took it all in. There was dark splash that she had meant to be his hair atop the light cream color that was supposed to be his skin. The black and scarlet of his robes however was now marred by the emerald green blob.
"Is that you?" he asked pointing at the green.
Pansy sighed.
"It would genius if it was. I read somewhere that almost every artist finds a way to include themselves in their own works." He looked at the painting again. "That little green slash would be the perfect way to include Slytherin colors into a solely Gryffindor painting."
"You think?"
He nodded.
"Thank you, Harry."
"Your welcome, Pansy."
She walked as Harry Potter walked away from her and wondered what he saw in her artwork that she didn't. She guessed that real beauty must definitely be in the eye of the beholder.
I hope you all enjoyed Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder.
