Saw the episode Primacy over the weekend and was struck by the growing friendship between Amita and Colby. So I couldn't resist this little postep oneshot. :)

The students filed out after Amita's last class of the day. She was gathering her things when someone called her name from the doorway.
"Hi Colby."The young professor greeted with a surprised smile. "If you're looking for Charlie he should be in his office."
"Was looking for you actually."Granger explained as he closed the space between them stopping in front of her desk.
"Me? Why?"Amita asked as she set her things back on the desk.
Colby smiled. "Just wanted to make sure you were okay."
"You're the one with the bandages."Amita countered as she leaned against the right side of her desk.
"These?"Granger replied with a grin as he held up his bandaged hands. "Fashion statement that's all."
Amita laughed briefly then sobered. "I'm glad you're okay, Colby. Seeing you go under the water so fast scared me."
"You're a brave person, Amita."Colby stated quietly.
"Doesn't feel like it. I knew you guys were watching me yet when he grabbed me. I was scared out of my mind."Ramanujan replied with a shake of her head.
"You kept your wits about you; most people don't."Granger commented. "If you ever want to switch careers I'm sure the FBI would snatch you up in a heartbeat."
"I think Charlie would freak out having two agents in the family."Amita responded as she picked up her purse and papers once more.
Colby met his friend's gaze. "If you ever need to talk feel free to call me. Charlie's a great guy but I bet there are some things you don't tell him."
"Only to keep him from worrying."Amita acknowledged. "Thank you for the offer."
Granger nodded and stood. He fished a business card out of his wallet and handed it to Amita.
"My number...just in case."Colby explained..
Amita smiled at her friend's kindness. "Thanks, Colby. I'm okay, really."
"I'm glad."Granger commented as he turned to leave. "I should get back."
"Colby, do you have to head back to the office right away?"Amita asked on impulse. "This is my last class and the cafeteria has a new ice cream sundae I've been dying to try."
"Haven't had ice cream in ages."Colby replied with a grin as he glanced at his watch. "Don was after me to take some time off anyway so guess taking off early would count."
"I'll just call Charlie and let him know."Amita stated as she pulled out her cell phone.
Fifteen minutes later Amita and Colby were sitting in the cafeteria eating triple fudge sundaes and laughing and talking like old friends. Amita couldn't help but think how nice it was to have people in her life that felt like she'd known them forever. No matter what mistakes Colby had made Amita was glad to count him as a friend.
