"Prim is gone! She's dead and she's not coming back! Get out!"
~ Deep in the Meadow ~
The house lies silent. Nothing but the tapping of gentle rain fills the air. Darkness covers every room. Every corner. Not a single light is on, nor does any furnature give the house a warm glow. And suddenly, a crash sends echoes throughout the halls. She slowly tilts her head up, looking around the room to inspect. But nothing moves. Everything is frozen.
She rises from her slumber and slowly steps out of the living room, into the dark hall. Once again, all is calm. Walking through the first door on her right, she enters the kitchen and sees the tabby orange cat sitting beside the sink. A large plate now on the floor with a crack straight through it. For once, it doesn't hiss at her. Instead, it lets out a small meow. A meow, but not for her. For her owner. For her lover.
"She's gone," the girl says sternly to the cat, it letting out a louder, more whailing meow after. The girl says nothing. The cat meows again.
"Get out.." the girl says, gritting her teeth and clenching her fists. The cat widens its eyes, staring straight at the girl in fear.
"Get out!" The cat barely lets out a small shiver.
"Prim is gone!" the girl begins yelling. She snatches a cup straight from the table in front of her and chucks it as hard as she can at the cat.
"Prim is gone! She's dead and she's not coming back! Get out!"
The girl now standing right in front of the sink pauses, tears streaming down her face. She lets out harsh whails, gently picking the expressionless cat up. She buries her face into its fluffy fur and finally embraces its warmth. After all these years, she finally realizes what importance it had to her sister. And after all these weeks of war, she finally feels comfort.
Deep in the meadow, under the willow.
A bed of grass, a soft green pillow.
Lay down your head, and close your sleepy eyes.
And when again they open, the sun will rise.
Author's Note:
If you haven't noticed already, this is how the Buttercup scene goes down in Mockingjay Part 2, so I decided to write it out.. And I'm sort of.. lost. Lost for words. I cannot describe that movie that I just watched yesterday. I cannot describe this SCENE to how amazing it truly was. I'm dead. My favorite franchise ever has ended, and this has officially become my favorite scene in the entire Hunger Games franchise too.
If you like The Hunger Games, read some of my other oneshots too I guess.. I do lots of Hunger Games stories.. Wow, I'm just totally lost for words. Liked it, leave a review if you have time. As always, I greatly appreciate it.
Thank you so much for reading, byeeeee. ;_;
