Author's Note: My first GG fanfic. Something I wrote after readingGG4. I felt upset that Cammie left. Surprisingly, I thought of what Rachel would have thought. Here it is:D
Disclaimer: I do not own the GG series, nor any of these characters. I'll just leave them in the wonderful hands of Ally Carter!
Enjoy!
Abby held on to her sister.
"Rachel, you need to pull yourself together."
Rachel struggled against Abby's grip.
"I've got to find Cammie. I've got to make sure she's alright. I've got to…"
Suddenly collapsing, tears rapidly rolled down her already puffy eyes.
It had been days since anyone had seen Cammie Morgan. Every spy agency had been notified and they were all on the lookout for the missing girl. But it was only recently that Cammie's journal had been found. By Rachel herself.
"Cammie's out there… by herself… What if she's hurt? She's just found out why the Circle's hunting her and who killed her dad. I should have…"
Abby felt her eyes well up.
Here was her older sister, babbling about her young niece who had decided to go against the Circle of Cavern to find answers. Answers! That little squirt sure had guts.
"Squirt's a spy, a Gallagher girl. She'll be fine."
Rachel shook her head, tears still flowing.
"She'll never be safe with the Circle on her trail. Just look at Joe. And Matthew."
Abby felt a lump in her throat. Rachel was right, of course. Rachel was almost always right. But for this one time, Abby hoped that her smart aleck of a sister was wrong.
Looking sadly at the woman who was now vacantly staring at her daughter's handwriting, Abby gave her sister a tight hug.
"Cammie will be fine. She's a Morgan and a Cameron to boot."
But Rachel seemed not to have heard her. Instead, she was mumbling incoherently to herself.
"… So like Cammie. Not even a sorry. Just an "I Love You…"
Abby sighed.
She gripped Rachel's head, forcing her to look into her eyes.
"Cammie is gone because she cared for all of you. Her grandparents, her friends, this school, me, you."
This time, she had her sister's attention.
"Please, mourn all you like. But Cammie's going to be fine. They won't hurt her, you know that."
Rachel's lower lip trembled.
"Yes, yes. They killed her father but won't hurt her…"
She hugged Abby, sobbing as if she was four and Abby was her older sister instead.
"Matthew is gone. Now Cammie is gone too! Why must everybody I love leave me?"
Abby felt a tear slide down her cheek.
"I'm still here, Rachel. I'm still here."
The two sisters sat like this, Cammie's notebook in Rachel's lap, Rachel's head in Abby's shoulder, Abby cradling her sister gently.
They both cried, in fear, in hope.
And Rachel Morgan prayed for the first time in ages.
"Dear God, please bring my Cammie back safely. Amen."
