Disclaimer: I do not own x-men evolution, but I do own the character
Samantha Baker.
Dear Journal,
I've never really been interested in keeping a journal, I guess that's because my life just seemed too dull. Now there are so many things happening that I think I might go nuts if I don't write it all down. I guess that's why Mom gave you to me as a going away present.
Where did I go? None other than the Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters. Gifted. I wonder how many people would disagree with that term used in describing those with mutant abilities? I know that many mutants consider their 'gift' to be a curse, but I guess I can see what professor Xavier is saying.
My gift made itself known three days ago, in my math class. I was bored out of my mind, as usual, and at the time I was staring at the pile of completed tests on the teacher's desk. I knew I had totally bombed the test, probably a result of staying up all night watching anime shows, and I was in a really bad mood because my grade was barely a B and I knew this would bring it down. The next thing I know, my vision takes on a redish tint and the test burst into flames! Everyone panicked, including the teacher. I don't know why, but something told me that I had caused this and I could stop it, so I stood up and extended my hand toward the growing flames. As the class stared, the fire jumped from the desk into my open palm, then dwindled into nothingness. I think I was as shocked as everyone else, I just stood there, not knowing what to say or do. My teacher was the first to brak the silence, ordering me to leave his classroom and never come back.
I was too surprised at what has just happened to be angry, so I just picked up my books and walked out. Not even completely aware of what I was doing, I walked out the door and headed home. I should probably mention that home is about four or five miles from the school, but as I said I wasn't really paying attention to what I was doing. I didn't get home until some time after school was out, and my mom was starting to freak out just as I walked in the door. She asked a dozen question in the span of a few seconds, and I didn't understand one of them. Before she had a chance to repeat herself, the doorbell rang. I ran to get it, hoping it was someone who could distract my mom long enough for me to decide what to say to her. When I opened the door, two strangers were there. One was a tall, red-haired girl who looked to be about 17 or 18, and the other was an older bald man in a wheelchair. I don't know how, but I knew right away that there was something different about these two, I just didn't know what. "Samantha Baker, I am professor Charles Xavier, and this is one of my students, Jean Grey. Is your mother home?" His voice had a sort of quiet authority to it, and even though I didn't know why he was there, or how he knew my name, I invited the two of them to come in. The professor explained to my mom that he ran a school for gifted students, and that he thought it would be a good idea for me to join. My mom wanted to know what he meant by 'gifted', so the professor asked me to show her. He told me to focus on my upturned palm, and when I did a small orb of fire appeared. My mother almost fainted. Two days later I was packed and on my way. I was met at the airport by a guy who introduced himself as Logan, that was the only time he spoke from the time we left the airport to our arrival at the school. I made no attempt to start a conversation since he did not seem like the kind of person to chat. There was something about him that made me think of a wild animal. Someone just yelled up that breakfast was ready, so I guess I'll finish this tonight or tomorrow morning. I wonder what my first meal with the other students will be like?
AN: Well, there's chapter 1. Did you like it? Please respond so I know if I should continue. Thanks!
