"You know what, Lils?" James Potter, Auror extraordinaire and one of the infamous marauders, Prongs, asked his wife.
Lily sighed instantly. She looked up at him in exasperation, thinking that this was another one of his silly rants about how Sirius had kept on freeloading before they had went into hiding, or about how Remus had gotten lucky when he had landed himself that new girl of his, Emily something-or-other.
"Mmmmm?" She hummed questioningly.
"I think I sort of like this quiet… the peace of not being chased around. I mean, other than this whole You-Know-Who thing, I really do think we need to spend more time for ourselves than for others."
Lily's expression changed from exasperation to worry and walked over to him. She put her hand on his forehead. "Are you alright, James? You didn't hit your head or anything, did you?"
James shrugged Lily's hand off of his forehead, the same way he used to do with his mother when she was checking if he was alright. "I'm fine. You know that just because I'm best friends with Toofdap doesn't make me dumb too, right? I mean, you might have married me because of my good lucks, but if that was the case, you wouldn't have been rejecting me for 5 years."
Lily harrumphed. "That's entirely your fault! You were such a prat!"
He grinned. "It is. And you liked it. Especially that one time when…"
She blushed and swatted his hand away from hers. "You said that you wouldn't bring that up!" She exclaimed. "And Harry could hear!" She continued in a whisper.
"So what if he hears about a story between the most handsome marauder and the prettiest bird in all of Hogwarts? I mean, it's not like it would be doing him any bad…"
"James! You will not be giving him the talk until at least the day before he goes to Hogwarts!"
He glared at her petulantly as she looked at him defiantly for a moment before they both smiled at each other and suddenly started laughing boisterously.
After laughing tears were shed, James hugged his wife as Lily hugged her husband back. "I really do think we might need to get out after all this business is over with."
Lily hummed in agreement. "Where do you think we should go? France, Germany or-"
Lily and James both suddenly jumped up as they heard a scream, followed by cries.
They sighed simultaneously. "It's your turn, James." Lily said gleefully, while at the same time feeling bad.
James sighed before grinning wildly. "Who's coming to tell my little boy some bedtime stories?" He ran up the stairs and soon after Lily heard her Harry squeal in joy. "Let me tell you the story about Prongs and the Tigress, the one where the Tigress captures Prongs in her enchanting beauty…"
Lily smiled as she heard James quietly speak through the ceiling.
"At least he'll give Harry good taste."
