After all, the only way for me to please the reader is to become a better writer, and the only way to do that is if the reader tells me where I go wrong. Now please, enjoy.

--BREAK--

In this world, is the destiny of mankind controlled by some transcendental entity or law, is it like the hand of God hovering above? At least it is true, that man has no control, even over his own will.

The stars, shining bright, illuminated the opening of the forest that a young boy was currently in. The boy sat perched against a shed, sitting cross-legged. He was wearing an orange and blue jacket with a white collar, a white swirl with a tassel on the left side, and a red Uzumaki crest on the back. His orange pants draped down to beyond his ankles. A shuriken holster was fastened on his right thigh. Completing this look was a pair of blue sandals on his feet and green goggles on his head. His blonde spiky hair flew in every direction and his blue eyes pierced through the night. Three whisker markings adorn each of the boy's cheeks. He stood at a short 4ft 7in. This boy was nonother than Naruto Uzumaki.

In his arms is the sacred Scroll of Seals. This is no ordinary scroll. It held village secrets and forbidden jutsu capable of mass destruction. This fact did not deter Naruto, it only served to excite him. His fingers began to peel open the scroll. It seemed that Naruto's smile grew with every inch of the scroll that was unraveled.

"So..." Naruto mumbled to himself, "I guess I should start with the first one. Hmmm..." His eyes moved along as he read. "Oh no, not a clone jutsu," The boy said aloud as he read the first technique. To him, the clone jutsu was the hardest jutsu he had ever come across in his life. However, this would be no ordinary clone jutsu.

"Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu, A Jutsu which is in itself just a massive version of the Shadow Clone Jutsu. It creates a few hundred real clones with the users Chakra distributed evenly among the clones. That sounds pretty cool. The clones will disperse when hit with enough force. Shadow clones also seem to be able to think for themselves and feel the original's pain to some extent. Tasks which require great concentration restrict the number of usable clones and the experiences that the clones have experienced will be passed onto the user. Because of this, using many clones repeatedly can result in mental instability and in severe cases trauma to the brain. It is considered to be dangerous and is forbidden because of how it can drain the user of its Chakra as well as provide harm to the brain" Naruto made a psh sound. "How harmful could it be? Making real clones sounds amazing! I wonder how many of me I can make?" He pondered aloud. Naruto decided to jump right in and try to master the Jutsu to find out.

During the time that he spent in an attempt to learn this technique, Naruto never realized that several ninja were after him. The Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, knew of what Naruto had done and had sent out ninja to catch him. The Sandaime had always kept a close eye on Naruto. He saw the events of the day occur in his crystal ball. Sarutobi witnessed Naruto fail the academy test and felt sorry for the boy. He almost put the ball away, but something told him to keep watching and ensure that Naruto was okay. It was the following moments that had left the old man in shock. Mizuki, one of Naruto's sensei, had deceived the boy, telling him that he would be allowed to become a ninja if he stole the scroll of seals. Sarutobi had allowed such events to occur. Of course, he would never tell this to anyone. In the Hokage's mind, he knew that if Naruto played his cards right then there was still some hope for him becoming a ninja. The only thing left for Sarutobi to do was wait.

--BREAK--

Several hours had passed, but to Naruto, it only seemed like minutes. His chest was bouncing at an incredible rate and sweat adorned his face. His small -still boyish body- pressed against the shack. A smile made its way onto his face. He had done it. His hard work had finally paid off. Naruto could now say that without a doubt he could use the multi shadow clone jutsu. Just as Naruto was about to jump for joy, his teacher, Iruka Umino, burst into the opening of the forest. Iruka is a man of average height and build. He has brown hair that he keeps in a ponytail, dark eyes and a scar that runs across the bridge of his nose. He wears the standard Konoha shinobi outfit complete with the Konoha headband on his forehead, sandals, and a flak jacket. His sleeves are also rolled up roughly way. He stood at a moderate 5ft 8in.

"I've finally found you," Iruka said between the panting of his breaths. Sweat was rolling down his face and he slouched over, putting his hands on his knees as a form of support. He quickly recovered from his exhausted state just in time to scold Naruto. With his head turning big and a classic angry vein popping out from his forehead, Iruka began his verbal assault. "I'll have you know that most of the village is looking for you right now," Naruto's grin quickly flipped into a frown and a confused look overcame his face. "You know, you are so lucky that the Hokage did not brand you a criminal for what you did," to this statement, both Naruto's frown and confusion grew and at this point, he had enough.

Standing up from his seated position, Naruto pointed a finger at Iruka and began to tell his side of the story.

"I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about," Naruto began whilst shouting. The noise produced from the loudmouth startled some of the birds resting in the trees nearby causing them to scatter. "I was only taking the ninja retake test that Mizuki told me about." When Iruka heard this he was dumbfounded.'Ninja retakes the test?' Iruka repeated in his head. He had never heard such a thing. "He told me that even though I had failed the test given to me at the academy, there was always the retake. All I had to do was sneak into the Hokage tower and take the Scroll of Seals without being detected, and if I were able to learn a Jutsu from it I would be accepted as a ninja. Lucky for me, I was able to do such a task before you showed up!" Naruto said with his arms crossed over his chest.

Iruka was confused entirely, but one thing was certain to him- Mizuki had tricked Naruto. "Naruto," Iruka began, taking a step forward, "You need to return the scroll. Mizuki tricked you, there is no such thing as a retake." Now Naruto was the dumbfounded one.

The air grew tense and a surreal silence made its way between the two. Moments later a small crackling of laughter could now be heard coming from the trees behind Iruka. Suddenly, shuriken and kunai flew from the area, impaling the ground between Naruto and Iruka. Naruto and Iruka both turned to face the direction the objects were thrown from. Standing on a tree branch not so far away was none other than Mizuki. He had white shoulder-length hair with a slight hint of blue to it and green eyes. He wore the standard attire of a Konoha ninja including his flak jacket and a bandanna style headband. On his back were two massively sized shuriken and on his face was a wicked smile just as big. He stood at a moderate 5ft 8in.

"So, it seems that you discovered my plan Iruka," Mizuki cracked. "Well, it doesn't matter, because before the night ends I am going to kill both you and the Fox spirit. And when I am done I am going to take the Scroll of Seals and use it to become infinitely powerful!"

Naruto became confused and Iruka worried.

'What is he talking about?' Naruto thought.'Didn't the Fourth kill the Nine-Tails?' Before Naruto could think about the issue Iruka grabbed him and the Scroll of Seals and ran into the forest. Mizuki simply smirked. Does he really think he can outrun me? Mizuki thought. At least this should be fun...He then began chasing after the duo.

Running across the land at a speed that the average man could barely track was Iruka. He was speaking to Naruto with a worried tone adorning his voice. "I won't be able to outrun Mizuki at this pace. When I stop running you need to take the scroll and get the hell out of here."

Naruto looked worried, "B-but what if-"

Iruka interjected, "Naruto this is not a game. You could get seriously hurt, or worse, and I will not let that happen to you. When I tell you to run, you RUN!" Iruka's tone had no room for disagreement. Naruto could only respond with a gulp and a nod.

After a few more seconds of running, Iruka made a 180 and slid on his feet to a stop. Dropping Naruto and the Scroll of Seals he whipped out a Kunai and became on high alert. From the trees flew some shuriken and kunai, all of which were reflected. Naruto quickly came to his senses and grabbed the giant Scroll and left the area.

Walking from the direction of the trees was Mizuki, his smirk never leaving his face. "So, you decided to let the fox get away, did you? I have no idea why you would do such a thing. After all, you do detest that thing after what it had done to your family."

Iruka glared daggers into Mizuki. "Shut up. You have no idea what I feel!"

"Really? If I recall correctly, you were the one that did not want to mentor the child, having to be forced by the Hokage," Mizuki mocked.

"That was a long time ago!" Iruka yelled back.

Mizuki scoffed, "Do not try and act as if you do not hate it. We both know what it did twelve years ago. How it killed so many people." At this point, Mizuki had enough of their conversation and dropped from the trees. "I've had enough of this. It's time to deal with you so I can kill that boy and the fox within him." He rushed at Iruka, engaging him in Taijutsu. If it were not for the fact that Iruka was exhausted from his excessive sprinting and running he may have been able to keep up with Mizuki. Yet as it stands he was no match for him. Almost every punch and kick that Mizuki threw landed. One strong kick had sent Iruka flying into a tree where he slumped down, blood dripping from his lip.

What neither Shinobi knew was that Naruto was hiding in the trees watching their entire encounter. He couldn't help but wince at some of the things that were said and done. As of now, he was having an internal conflict, not knowing if it were better if he just left and returned the scroll or if he tried to save his teacher. His decision was made as he saw Mizuki pulling the giant shuriken from his back.

Just as Mizuki was about to throw the large shuriken he was tackled by Naruto who had the Scroll on his back. The two rolled for a while as both the Scroll of Seals and Mizuki's shuriken fell onto the ground. When Naruto and Mizuki came to a stop Naruto was on top of Mizuki and pounding him. Mizuki was shocked and stunned at first but quickly regained his composure. Mizuki kicked Naruto off of him, making him land towards Iruka who was still slouched.

"Ugh, I have had enough of you, you stupid brat!" Mizuki spat as he got to his feet. He slowly walked towards his shuriken that was on the ground. "You now Iruka, I think that I've decided to kill the brat first. At least you will be happy in your final moments now, knowing that the Nine-Tails is finally dead and all. And you know what is going to be the greatest part of it all? Going back to the village and being regarded as a hero for slaying the Nine-Tails brat. I can just say that you were killed in the crossfire and then I will get even more recognition." He laughed wickedly as he picked up his shuriken and spun it around his hand. Using all the force he could muster, Mizuki flung it at Naruto. "NOW DIE!"

Naruto could see the shuriken coming at him. He couldn't move. He could only close his eyes and brace himself for the pain that never came. After he heard the gut-wrenching sound of metal piercing skin he opening his eyes to see his teacher standing over him, blood running down his face and giant shuriken in back.

Naruto's eyes clouded over and his surroundings changed. Instead of a dark forest with his sensei standing over him, he was now in a well-lit tent, the color of beige. Currently, he was wrapped in a dark blanket, a sword resting to his left. His head resting on the white pillow. He did not know why but he had felt almost nothing. He had all but forgotten about his previous encounter in the woods, and was currently thinking about violence and bloodshed on a battlefield that he had no knowledge of.

Naruto wanted to move but just couldn't. He felt trapped underneath the blanket. Just moments later a man stumbled into the tent, obviously drunk. The man stood at the average height for a grown man and had a short and spiked blonde hair. The man also had a muscular body and had a sword strapped to his back. Naruto could not help but question who this man was and why he was looking at him with anger.

Naruto tried to ask the man what was his problem, but couldn't. No matter how hard he tried he just could not move a muscle. It was as if he was trapped in a body that acted upon a will that was not his own.

The man who entered the room spoke, "It always came back to you. You were the one who ruined my life."

At this moment Naruto only felt confusion. He had never met this man. How in the world could he have ruined his life?

"You are the reason Shisu died! You are the reason I can no longer fight! I always hated you..." The man's sentence trailed off after that. It was obvious to Naruto that this man was as drunk as could be. It was then that Naruto gained some control over his body, or so he thought. He sat up, pushing the blankets off of him. He wanted to point at the man, but his arms just dangled to his side.

Naruto opened his mouth and tried to explain to the man that he had no idea who this man was. However, only two words managed to escape his mouth. "Gambino... why?" Naruto felt his eyes begin to tear up and his face crunch into a sad, depressed look. Now Naruto was really getting annoyed. He did not feel sadness or pain, yet felt tears trailing his cheeks. Naruto began to get frustrated. He had no control what so ever over his body.

All of a sudden the man, now identified as Gambino, lashed out in anger at Naruto, slashing him across the face with his sword. However, that was as much as Gambino was able to accomplish. Before either person had realized what happened, Naruto took the sword that was resting to his left and swung it with as much force as he could muster. This only resulted in a bloodbath, as Gambino was cut at the neck.

In Naruto's mind, he was traumatized. Did he just kill a man? A man he did not even know? Naruto started to hyperventilate. He grabbed the man and held him in his arms and tears continued to stream down his face. Words began to sputter out of his mouth. "Gambino. Why. Why-why-why why-why!. Gambino!" Naruto screamed.

At that moment the scenery around Naruto began to change back to the woods that he was in before. Iruka was still hovering above him, giant shuriken still piercing his back. The situation began to seep back into Naruto's mind as he pushed what he had witness mere seconds ago to the depths of his mind.

"I-Iruka... Why? I thought that..." Naruto started to sputter, only to be cut off by Iruka.

"Because you are not the Nine-Tails. You are not any monster. You are Naruto Uzumaki. Do not ever forget that..." Iruka said as he then fell to the ground. His legs had given out as he lay on his side.

Naruto's hair covered his eyes and a lone tear crossed down his cheek. In his mind, he was confused and hurt. He had no idea what was going on, what that vision was, and worst of all, that he might lose his teacher by the hands of a traitor. 'Am I going to die?!' He thought in panic.

No, Naruto thought, Before I die I will make sure this jerk pays for what he has done to Iruka.

Naruto stood up from his spot underneath the tree. His hair spiked out more than it usually did and his cheek whiskers became more defined. His ocean eyes were now replaced with a crimson red. His whisper echoed throughout the forest "Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu" Hundreds of clones poofed into existence. Mizuki stood at the center of a sea of orange.

All of the Naruto clones charged at Mizuki, and while he was able to hold them off for a little while, it only took a couple minutes for the small army of Naruto to overwhelm him. Mizuki's screams echoed throughout the forest, but that didn't stop anything. Naruto continued to beat Mizuki like a drum until he was nothing but a bleeding mess of a man.

As the sun rose in the morning, so did Iruka. He did not die as Naruto had thought, he had simply passed out. The large shuriken in his back had kept the blood from being drained out of his body. Luckily for him, the shuriken did not impale deep enough to paralyzes him. As Iruka woke up he was bombarded by Naruto with a hug.

Iruka smiled through the pain, "We need to get to the Hokage. Quick, do you think you can summon a few clones to carry me and Mizuki?"

"Let's go!" Naruto said as he created a few clones. He grabbed the Sacred Scroll and a few clones took care of Mizuki's unconscious body as well as helping Iruka. They took off in the direction of the village.

Break

Later that day Iruka was taken to the hospital and Naruto turned in the Sacred Scroll as well as Mizuki to the Hokage. Mizuki was sent to the maximum security prison, and the Sacred Scroll was placed back where it belonged. As of now, Naruto and The Hokage were in a conversation about everything the events that transpired.

After a long and extensive report, Naruto huffed for air, saying, "Aaannnd that's what happened."

With pipe in mouth and frown on face, Hiruzen grunted. Hiruzen's skin was like, his hair grey, and his face is gaunter and adorned with wrinkles and liver spots of old age. He had a single line running vertically under the outer corners of each eye, which stretched down into his face as until they reached his cheeks. He was wearing the official Hokage uniform-the customary hat and haori with a red, full-length kimono that is tied using a white sash. "Hmmm... I see. It seems that we may have a couple enemies closer to us than expected."

Naruto frowned as well, "Yeah... and it's all my fault too... After all, I did steal the scroll, and if it weren't for me Iruka would not have gotten hurt"

"Oh nonsense," Sarutobi said, interjecting Naruto's sentence. "If you did not act like you were tricked into stealing the scroll, then Mizuki would still be out roaming the streets." Sarutobi made an obvious wink. That's not what happened, but Sarutobi played the situation off so that Naruto would feel better.

Naruto smiled. He couldn't help but beam, "Y-yeah. That's what happened!"

Sarutobi grabbed a wrapped box out of his desk and presented it to Naruto. "Here, I think it is about time that you received this."

Naruto looked at the box and hesitated a bit. "Is this what I think it is?" He asked as he held the box.

Sarutobi smiled, "Why don't you have a look and find out?"

Naruto did as instructed and his mouth curled into a smile. He quickly grasped the object in his hand and showed it to the Hokage. "D-do you mean that I'm a"

Sarutobi interrupted him yet again, "Yes. You are now a ninja of the Konohagakure. This is your reward for helping the village root out a traitor."

Naruto felt so many joyous emotions. Then, out of nowhere, the Hokage in front of him morphed and slowly the area he was in was also replaced. Naruto looked around the scene, realizing that he was no longer in the Hokage's office.

"What's going on?" He tried to say, only for the words to never leave his tung. The surroundings that were previously the oaken walls were replaced by a lush green that spanned for miles. Behind Naruto was a large tree that provided shade for the sitting boy. Naruto looked down at himself, seeing that he no longer had a boyish body. Instead, he was larger, much more muscular, and wearing dark clothing that he would've never thought he could see himself in. It was as if he was no longer Naruto. To his side was a sword, sticking vertically from the ground. Naruto thought he would panic, but the only thing he could feel was peace and tranquility. Almost even a faint tinge of happiness. Before he could question the scene anymore he was ripped from the landscape and thrown back into the office of the Hokage.

Naruto gasped for hair as he returned to his world. "What... what was that?!" he whispered through gritted teeth.

Sarutobi became perplexed. One moment Naruto is holding the leaf headband, happy as can be. The next he is pale white, gasping for air and afraid. "Naruto, what happened? Are you okay?" He asked while laying a reassuring hand on the boy's shoulder.

Naruto looked up at the Hokage. "I had this vision last night. It was weird, something that had never happened to me before. I thought that it would pass and never happen again. I was wrong. I just had one again. I'm worried and I don't know what to do about this."

Sarutobi nodded, absorbing the information. "Perhaps you should meditate. Maybe it will help to clear the mind."

Naruto's smile returned to his face. "I'll try that. Maybe it'll help, just like you say.

The Hokage gave him a small nod. "Now don't forget, you need to report to the academy on Monday to get assigned to your team."

Naruto grinned, "How could I forget, after all, I am a ninja now!"
