Ino waited patiently under a tree as a soft drizzle came around her. She was standing outside of a restaurant that her boyfriend had suggested. This was their third date since they got together four months ago. She brushed the hair out of her face, sighing slightly. "He's late," Ino stated to no one in particular. She looked through the parting crowd, trying to spot the brunette.
"INO!" The sudden shout shocked her. Turning to her left, she could see Choji walking quickly towards her. She smiled but became sudden curious when she saw that one of his hands were behind his back.
Ino chuckled, shaking her head slightly. When he stopped to stand in front of her with that cute smile of his, she hugged him. Choji hugged back, keeping one of his hands behind his back. "It's about time you showed up." She stated sarcastically.
The Akamichi heir chuckled, a small blush growing on his face, "Well, I thought I'd get you something."
Ino blinked owlishly at him, "Oh?"
"Here." He pulled his hand from behind his back. Inside the hand were a bunch of…
"Weeds?" She asked, thoroughly confused by the arrangement.
His smile faltered a little bit, "They're flowers, dandelions to be exact."
Ino sighed, "Dandelions are weeds. They're annoying, pesky weeds."
"No, they're not!" Choji defended, looking sadly at the yellow weeds, "I… I got them because they reminded me of you."
When he looked at her, he saw a small bit of hurt in her eyes. She looked away, "How do weeds remind you of me?" Ino didn't mean to sound angry, she was just feeling a little upset.
Choji smiled lovingly at her, catching her off guard, "Everyone thinks that dandelions are – as you put it earlier – annoying, pesky weeds, but they are so much more than that. They are beautiful in their own way and while they may be a little indecisive when deciding if it wants to be a flower or a weed, they age beautifully. And when it comes to the end of their life, their seeds bring forth happiness to children in the form of wishes."
"I don't understand." She stated slowly.
"Ino, many people have called you annoying, pesky, and many names that I dare not say. Those people think that you are the dandelion, someone who can't choose between being a pretty girl or a badass kunoichi." A blush rose on Choji's face, "They see a weed, but I see a beautiful flower who brings happiness to those around her. That's why dandelions remind me of you."
Ino rubbed her eyes to make sure she wasn't crying before taking the yellow flowers from her boyfriend, "Thank you, Choji."
"You're welcome." He smiled.
She looked up at him, giving him a quick peck on the lips, "I love you."
Choji flushed red, "I-I love you too!"
"Now, c'mon, let's go inside and get something to eat!" Ino chuckled before taking his hand and leading him inside the restaurant.
