Firefly and Ice

~*~*~

'I cant believe him!!!' Ginny thought to herself. "Where are you going, dear baby sister?" She imitated her brother's voice in her head, mocking his surprised reaction to being called 'baby sister' when she had stormed out of the Great Hall, moments earlier.

"It's not fair!!!" Ginny exclaimed, not realizing she had spoken out loud. Marching outside, she plopped down on the cool ground by the lake, watching it ripple with the night breeze. There as a full moon out, Ginny noticed; 'That should make tonight interesting,' she thought bitterly to herself. Glancing around, Ginny was startled to find a figure sitting to her left, looking as though he were a lost angel under the moonlight.

"What's not fair, Weasley? Potter break up with you again?" Draco's cold voice cut through the night air like a knife.

'What's wrong with her?' Draco asked himself; she looked as if she was ready to explode at the slightest provocation.

"Malfoy, why the hell are you always so damn rude to me? I have never even done one fucking thing to you! So just go to hell!" Ginny let out all of her anger and frustrations at the one nuance standing before her.

"Tisk, tisk, Ginny! I never expected little baby Ginny to curse, and at a school prefect, as well!" As Draco said her name, Ginny whirled around to face her brothers' enemy.

As she stood up, Ginny asked her question: "Since when have we been on first name terms with each other, Mr. Seventh-year-big-shot!?"

Draco stood up also, moving to block her way.

Ginny tried to take a step back from him, and only succeeded in stumbling on a rock, reaching out blindly as she fell. Surprised, Ginny felt a jolt as Draco caught her hand and gently pulled her back on to level ground.

After that, he just stood there for a few moments, holding her hand and smiling into her surprised face. Draco took a small step towards Ginny, so there was very little space between them. She felt another jolt when he dropped her hands to run his fingers down her arms, only to raise them up to her shoulders. Ginny was extremely aware of every spot he caressed on her arm; slowly, Draco brought his lips
down to hers, and kissed her, softly and gently.

What the hell...

She suddenly jerked up, her eyes wide with surprise. "Wait a minute... I thought... what are you..." Ginny shook her head as if to clear it, and started speaking again. "I'm a Weasley, remember? Not to mention a Gryffindor; you hate and despise my brother, Ron... Any of this coming back to you yet?"

"If I really have to question my motives later, I can just think about how shocked your brother would be if he saw us out here. It'd give him a heart attack!" Draco replied to her questions. "You must have thought wrong, Firefly. I'm sorry, you just have no idea how cute you are when you argue."

"You're crazy!" Ginny whispered, looking deep into the soul of Draco, through his glowing, silver eyes. For the first time when Ginny looked at Draco, his face wasn't sneering and his eyes didn't hold malice.

All Draco did in reply was look questioningly into her eyes. Ginny stepped forward in the slightest, agreeing with her eyes, to what Draco said with his. Draco dropped both his hands onto her waist, pulling her closer, as Ginny's hand came to rest on his shoulders.

When Draco kissed Ginny for the second time, she no longer knew or cared who or where she was. Both immersed in the kiss, Ginny and Draco became lost in each other.
