Darkness lay heavy like a thick blanket over the city of Midgar. The slums, hidden beneath it, even darker. Today just wasn't a good day. Well that was so say for the two limp bodies on the ground. Two SOLDIER newbies lay thrashed an mangled on the cold cement just outside a small Chinese food shop, their bodies cold and fading, their blood becoming like pools of ice.

"We should quickly get these bodies hidden before they stick to the ground."

"Yes, no one will really notice the blood once the snow gets in, and when it melts it will be washed away."

"Here, you get that one and ill get this one. We'll take them to the edge of the city."

"Wouldn't it be easier to- oh I get it never mind."

The two SOLDIER operatives were quickly thrown over shoulders and dashed through the city under the plate that held up the undamaged part of Midgar. There clothes were stripped and there bodies tossed into the now snowing desert. It was time to act.

Pacing back and forth in front of the main entrance to the ShinRa building, Kunsel waited, impatient for the two grunts that had been sent on there first year long mission to return with their reports that the abyss bridge had indeed been destroyed. A very difficult mission indeed. But now with the bridge hopefully destroyed Wutai troops could no longer get into Midgar for at least a month or two. Or until the bridge was fixed, which would take a few years. It was a very large bridge with a very long drop.

He had been standing out there all morning and it had only now began to snow. The small innocent flakes quickly piling up to pack thick onto the ground up to his knees. which was making it very difficult to pace.

He was just about to give up and go tell director Lezard that the boys hadn't come. They had lost contact and all information about them, only about a month ago. They all thought they were either killed or lost. Or even worse. They ran away, the mission was too hard, they were to young to join, blah blah blah. It wasn't like it didn't happen before, but it was still a big mess to clean up after. Which Kunsel had to do mostly.

He was just about to give up when he spotted two shaky figures loping tiredly through the hard packed snow, arms wrapped around each other for support.

At first he thought it was just his tired eyes playing trick on him, some gust of snowy wind blowing into a human shape. But soon enough the shapes got closer an Kunsel realized it was in fact the two he had been waiting for for the past couple of hours.

"is that... finally!!!" he exclaimed, whipping out his phone and calling in.

"yes, its Kunsel, yes there here finally, yes, ill bring them in. alright." he hung up then just as the two limping forms got within a block of the ShinRa main building entrance.

Jogging through the snow, Kunsel met the two half way. "Jace Karma, Kriss ____"

The two looked up to come face to face with Kunsel, one of the second in command at SOLDIER.

It was finally time to get on with this mission. The first step, take over the identities of the two young soldier boys, wasn't really the beginning. The real beginning was getting into SOLDIER an not getting caught. This was it.

Both Jace and Kriss stood up straighter as Kunsel reached them. He stopped right in front of them. "Jace Karma? Kriss ___?" he asked again. Both nodded in response.
