An InoShikaCho oneshot dedicated to my friend, Joce-chan. It's her part of her holiday present.
I hope you like it.
Clouds are so nice…
The clouds moved slowly above me head as I lay at the top of a hill. The grass was scratchy and getting ready to die, but it was nice anyway.
"Shikamaru! Where are you?"
I can hear Ino's yelling followed by a softer and less angry "Shikamaru?," it's Chouji.
My teammates are so troublesome…
For example, take Ino. She nags and gripes at us all the time. She bosses us around, and always is the one to lead the group. Of course, it's her group. She's always on diets; always telling Chouji he's too fat. And then every time she sees "Sasuke-kun" she glomps him, or when she sees "forehead girl" they get into a disagreement. Yeah, she's troublesome.
"Shikamaru! Get your lazy ass down here right now!"
Again, it's Ino trying to pull me away from the clouds. She seems closer than last time.
"Shikamaru…where are you..?" Chouji's voice is at a much less annoying pitch, but that wasn't saying much compared to Ino's voice.
Well, they'll find me when they find me.
Chouji is also troublesome, perhaps not as much so as Ino, but still…The sound of crunching potato chips and the opening of snack bags is enough to drive anyone crazy. He always complains about the lack of food on missions, even when he eats Ino's half-eaten food. And then he gets worked up when Ino taunts him. Yes, Chouji is also troublesome.
"There you are you lazy bum! Haven't you heard us calling you!?" Ino glares down at me. "We have to get started on training, and all you're doing is sitting here watching the clouds,"she adds a set f finger-air quotes around this, "while we have to come and…"
I stop listening to her rant, and smile lazily up at her.
Yes, Ino is troublesome, but as I watch her throw her fit ,as Chouji smiles benevolently at the sidelines, I can think of some reasons why troublesome can be good. If she didn't nag, we'd never get anything done, and if she didn't lead the team we'd go in circles. And if it wasn't her team then why would it be titled ino-shika-cho? As for the diets, I still think she would look prettier if she put on some weight, but, then again, if she did, she might not look like Ino. And when she tells Chouji he'd look better with some weight off, there's often a hidden complement in there somewhere. Finally, if I'm really honest with myself, the only reason I don't like her fighting with Sakura, or glomming Sasuke is because it takes away from the time that we get to be a team together. I suppose, if I really think about it, she isn't all that troublesome.
Ino is pouting now, looking down at my smiling face. She sighs and offers a hand, while Chouji takes the other and together they haul me to my feet. Chouji smiles at me, the same smile he had when we were children, and I can't help but smile back at him.
As for Chouji, he may be troublesome, but he's been my friend for years. And I may say that the sound of chip bags bother me, but during a mission when we're all sleeping in our tent, I can't sleep if I don't hear that crinkle at least a couple times per night. He may complain about food, but I complain about everything else, so I'd be a hypocrite if I complained abut him. And it' s not as if I can complain about him getting annoyed about Ino, as it's a sore spot for him. Besides, she's gotten much better at not mentioning his weight.
We've finished our training now and Asuma is taking us out for lunch—Barbeque, and as I walk along the street with them everything seems a little less troublesome. Chouji opens another bag of chips and offers me the first chip, and Ino walks strait by Sasuke and doesn't even say hello to him, turning instead to smile at us. And I can't help but think…
They're really not trouble some at all.
I hope you liked it .
