My name is Dean Winchester. You probably won't believe me, but ever since my mom died when I was four, I've been a hunter. Not the kind where you go and shoot animals for fun. No, I'm a real hunter. I find spirits, demons, and other evil things, and kill them. Of course, I don't do this alone. My dad takes me and my kid brother, Sam, around the country saving people from these things. I guess, technically, my dad does most of the actual hunting, but he trains us. It's been nine years since my mom's death, and since Sammy's only nine, I take care of him. Right now we're heading towards a small town in Pennsylvania called Forest Hills. Dad heard about some girl disappearing. They found her body a week after in an abandoned house. It could be nothing, but we haven't had a lead in weeks.

"Dean?" Sam asks. "Where are we going?"

I look at him and sigh. "Nowhere important. Just wait until we get there, I'll make you some mac and cheese."

"Okay." We ride in silence the rest of the way. When we finally get to the motel, dad pays with his fake credit card and we go to our room.

Dad says to me, "I'm going to go talk to the girl's family. Make sure Sam is safe. I'll be back in 2 hours."

"Yes sir," I say, and he leaves. I make Sam some mac and cheese and he's happy for about 20 minutes. Then he gets bored.

"Dean, when is dad coming back?"

"An hour and 40 minutes."

"What's he doing?"

"Working."

"Where's he working?"

"I don't know."

"What's he working on?"

"God, Sam why do you have to ask so many questions? You know what he's doing!"

"Sorry. I just wanted to know." Great, now I feel bad.

"No, Sammy, I'm sorry. You have a right to know. Dad's working on a job about a girl who was found dead in an abandoned house. He thinks there could be something… supernatural about it."

He just looks at me, understanding slowly filling his eyes. "Oh, ok. I wish we could help."

"Sam, are you kidding me? It's way too dangerous! If we didn't get killed by whatever this is, we would get killed by dad! Our job is to listen to him and stay safe."

"Yeah. I know." He looks so disappointed.

"Don't worry, we might have training tomorrow." I turn on the TV to Cartoon Network and he was all set. I decided to clean up and then I watch some Looney Tunes. I mean there was nothing better to do, and Sammy was hooked on this channel since it came out two weeks ago. It's this new channel with cartoons for kids during the day and adult cartoons at night. I kind of like it. Anyways, dad gets home soon and he tells us to get to bed. It's only 8:30 so he must have an idea. I wish I could help him research, but he would never let me. Sometimes, I look stuff up when he's out. I go through his notebook and then take Sam to the library. I let him look at the kids' books while I try to research. Dad doesn't know, but I've actually helped him on a bunch of jobs, like one of the poltergeists. I just added to his notebook. He doesn't notice because our handwriting is almost the same. I'll probably go to the library tomorrow when dad goes to question the school.

"Dean?" I hear my dad say.

"Yeah dad?"

"This job is turning out to be trickier than I thought. We'll probably have to stay here longer than we planned."

"Ok. I'll make sure Sammy's entertained."

"Good. If you want, tomorrow we can practice some hand-to-hand."

"Yeah, that would be great! Thanks dad."

"No problem. Now get to bed, I'll see you in the morning."

"Good night dad." I climb into the bed next to Sam's and I close my eyes, already dreaming about tomorrow. It's going to be awesome.
