Gun!
Travis held his gun to Crowell's chest. It would be so easy to just shoot him; shoot him for killing Pacman, shooting him for nearly ruining his and Wes's careers. It would be so easy to come up with an excuse; Crowell shot himself, Crowell was high, Crowell fought back and Travis had to defend himself…
God! This was the son of a bitch that killed Pacman, the only glue between Travis and Wes. His best friend during the Academy. The only guy that Wes was actually close to.
People who just watched the TV shows thought shooting to kill was easy. And it was, physically. Of course, the rebound could be a bitch if you couldn't handle your gun right, but Travis was too good to let a little thing like rebound to ruin his shooting.
Emotionally, Travis knew that it was a very hard thing to do. Perhaps he did like to wave his gun around a lot, but he wasn't actually shooting to kill. Maybe he did kill an SIS guy back there, because they sure as hell weren't expecting for Travis and Wes to figure it out, but that was heat-of-the-moment, kill-or-die.
But, Travis thought that, emotionally, it wouldn't be hard at all to shoot Crowell in the chest in cold-blood. Shoot him in the exact same place that he shot Pacman. It'd be ironic. No one would know but him. Tears came to his eyes, as he nearly pressed the trigger. This was for Pacman; the tears were for Pacman. He was going to avenge Pacman.
Something came to the front of his mind without warning.
"I promise you, I'm not gonna shoot him."
"Wes, do you believe that Travis has changed? Are you going to take his word for it?"
"Yeah."
Travis gritted his teeth so hard that he thought that they were going to crack. Wes had put his trust in Travis. Wes, the guy so paranoid and crazy and OCD. Wes, who didn't even trust in Travis's leads.
Even if Travis made up some bullshit story about defending himself, he knew that Wes would see through everything. Travis didn't know if Wes would say anything to anyone, but he knew that Wes would know. Wes would be disappointed. Their trust would be broken. Their partnership would end.
God damn it. He was going to have to do the right thing now, wasn't he?
-Author's Note-
Yeah, I just had to write this. Not beta'd, by the way.
This episode made me cry, made me angry, made me worried...I was sure that Travis and Wes were going to get shot in two different times in this episode. And even in the beginning scene, I wanted to shoot Crowell. It also made me love Pacman. Jeez, I really want to write a story as to how Pacman knew Travis and knew Wes.
By the way, I have a little headcanon here; Pacman and Travis were Academy buddies. It got added to the story, in case anyone got confused where I got the information that Travis and Pacman were Academy buddies.
If anyone wants to rant, drop off a review or a PM. We'll rant together.
I hope this wasn't too horrible or ruined the episode for you. I'm apologise for the title, by the way. Can't title worth crap. If anyone can figure out a better one, go ahead. XD
I can't help but think I've seen Pacman somewhere before...
