She lay in bed,
Her eyes closed,
All alone,
Her heartbeat slowed.
Her body tensed,
As she remembered,
The man she loved,
For what seemed like forever.
That time was so clear,
The memory wouldn't go,
Even though this happened,
About five years ago.
She visualised his face,
His eyes, lips and hair,
The way he always smiled,
Now made her heart tear.
She climbed out of bed,
Stepped onto the floor,
She didn't want to think,
About this anymore.
The memories kept on coming,
As she paced around the room,
Nothing could take her mind,
Off this terrible gloom.
She picked up the phone,
Hoping she wouldn't regret,
Dialling the number,
Which she would never forget.
It rang and rang,
There was no answer,
She feared this would happen,
And it depressed her.
Because five years ago,
Now brought a tear to her eye,
For he left her for Jeanne,
Without a goodbye.
She sobbed in her room,
Sad and heartbroken,
For all the pain in her body,
Was for so long held in.
And now she wondered,
If she had been chosen,
Would her heart,
Remain this frozen?
