Kody's long, russet colored curls whip around her face as the bitter wind stings her whole body. She blinks her eyes once. Twice. And then a third time.
"Kody!" somebody calls her name from below her. For a split second her concentration is broken and she gasps in horror as she loses her footing and almost falls. Almost.
Around her, the small, fluffy, white snow starts to pile up. As the snow falls, its contrast against the almost black night sky is breathtaking. Bits of snow land on her cheeks --- rosy from the cold --- and long, almost blonde, eyelashes. The smattering of cinnamon colored freckles across her nose and cheeks look prettier alongside the color in her face.
Why is she standing on a twenty-three story building? It's simples really; she loves a boy who obviously doesn't love her back. At least, not in the same way. It seems stupid to some people but if it ever happens to you, then you would know how she feels.
What am I doing? She thinks to herself. This is insane! I'm just gonna step back…
There was a whoosh of the wind before she lost her footing again. She let out a bloodcurdling scream as her arms flailed about her. Her gorgeous, russet locks streamed out above her and around her face. Even as she falls to her death, she seems so serene and graceful.
Seventeen more stories. Sixteen, fifteen, fourteen, thirteen, twelve, eleven, ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one...she counts the floors as they go by. Her body goes limp as soon as she hits the ground.
"Oh my God, Kody!" Damian screeches after he gets over the shock. He rushes over to her and slumps down next to her crumpled body. He doesn't notice it but her fingers twitch and her chest is slowly rising and falling.
"I never had the chance to tell her how in love with her I am," he whispers as tears stream down his cheeks. Kody's breath get's caught in her throat upon hearing these words. She coughs and her eyes flutter open.
"Damian…I love you too," her voice comes out almost inaudibly. He doesn't look up at all. She places a hand on his shoulder only to find it almost transparent.
"Holy sh…!"
