What is a Happy-Clappy. A quasi dramatic monologue, which presents the view of one who is NOT a Happy-Clappy. It came from carol singing at our local Morrisons this morning...

Definition of a "Happy Clappy"
What is a definition of a happy-clappy?
Or a bible-basher,
Or a tambourine-shaker?
Is it the stereotypical Kum-Bah-Ya
That they're always singing?
Or the hawk-like stares they give you
When one of their pack sidles up
And starts to tell you about the Good News?
Good News?? Honestly!
At their age too;
They should know better.
Maybe it's the smug smiles
That are glued to their faces.
Their proclamations that
"Jesus loves you"
That
"They've been SAVED"
"SAVED" from WHAT??
Yeah, they seem so sure,
Wait until they experience heartbreak.
"Pardon. Did you just say that
The young man over there
Lost his brother to Leukaemia,
Is blamed by his Mother for living,
When his Father did not survive??"
How can he smile and praise his God?
Well…
Hear my other arguments…
Hard-core Christians are just not relevant!
"What? That beautiful, stylish girl,
With the whole world at her feet
Loves God?"
Why?
She has everything.
What do you mean
"None of it is worth anything
When compared to having God"?
I thought Religion was for losers?
What do you mean,
"My next door neighbours pray for me
Even though I cussed them when
They told me they Loved God"?
What do you mean,
"That God raises the dead,
And heals, and softens the hardest of hearts"?
What do you mean,
"That God is in charge of the people
who run our Country"?
What do you mean,
"That God so loved the World
That he sent his son to die"?
I thought that the World in
General hated him!
What kind of crazy love is that?
What do you mean
"God loves me??"
This isn't the story-book idea that I thought
You believed in.
This is real??
Are you sure??
You are!!!
Did you just say
You're a child of God?
Royalty??!!
Made blameless??
Been healed by Jesus' wounds?
Been set free from shame?
From Guilt?!
From SIN?!!!
Oh
