A/N: WOW! Okay, so I haven't updated in forever. I mean I haven't updated ANYTHING. I'm really sorry about that. Hopefully I can update my main story soon. Anyways, this is just something I wrote because I was bored and the idea was swirling around in my head, and I'm avoiding an English paper. It is slightly AU and it's before Lily and James go out. Rated K+ for a bit of swearing at the end.
Disclaimer: Really, if I owned Harry Potter, would I even need to write an English paper? That's right I didn't think so.
Summary: He knew almost every single one of her flaws, yet she was still absolutely perfect. One-shot. [LExJP]
Perfectly Imperfect
Transfiguration class at nine in the morning, and McGonagall had assigned an essay for the whole Seventh Year class to do, but James just couldn't seem to focus, well couldn't seem to focus on Transfiguration. The only thing he could focus on was the beautiful redhead sitting two rows ahead of him.
He watched carefully as she brushed a wavy, uncontrollable, red lock out of her face as she scribbled fiercely upon her parchment. He admired the way her hand moved fluidly, writing out her slightly illegible cursive scrawl. James' mind began to drift off and all thoughts were about Lily Evans and no longer remembering of his Transfiguration paper.
He tapped his quill lightly against his desk as he thought about the way she smiled when she was with her friends, the way her face flushed tomato red whenever she was angry or embarrassed, and the way she was passionate about everything; even when it came to hating him. He was amazed at how hard a worker she was, how modest she was, and how she believed everyone should be treated with equality, even the Slytherins.
Of course James knew that these were only her good qualities he was thinking about, he could point out many of her flaws as well. Yet James couldn't help but admire her flaws as well. He loved how she often tripped while walking through the halls of Hogwarts, he loved her hotheaded temper, and how stubborn she was about her opinions… even when she was wrong. That's the thing though, Lily Evans was hardly ever wrong, she was logical, intelligent, and almost always correct about most given situations.
Although most of the school would agree that Lily Evans was an uptight prude, he knew differently. He knew she danced around in her room to The Ramones and Pink Floyd, sang in the shower—a bit off key, she misplaced her belongings around her room, and her room looked like a tornado had hit it with clothes ubiquitously. No, he wasn't a pervert. He was a teenage boy! Okay, so that could be put into the same category but still, he didn't peep on her. They were both Heads and just happened to have their own common room… okay he was a pervert. Still, he loved everything about her, but she never believes him when he admits it to her… and maybe the rest of the Hogwarts student and teacher population.
James snapped out of his trance as he saw the object of his affection stumble over her book bag as she walked up to turn in her essay. His essay. The one he was supposed to be doing for the past hour… Oh crap… Damn her for unconsciously distracting him. She was just so damn perfect... even with her imperfections, but he wouldn't have it any other way.
