"You bought me a cosmopolitan? I ask you to get me a drink while I check our coats and you get me a cosmopolitan?"

"I like cosmos!" Caroline defended her drink choice.

"Have you ever even had a cosmo before?" Damon raised his eyebrows.

"Well…no, but Carrie Bradshaw drank them, and if I agree with her taste in shoes, why not in drinks?"

"Well, can't beat that logic."

She tasted the drink and smiled. "Plus, it's pink."

"That's where the problem is."

"You can't drink something pink? Are you 12? No one cares if your drink is pink."

"I am a man, and men do not consume pink beverages. Get thee gone, woman, and bring me something brown," Damon smirked.

"Oh, I've got fun Damon today," Caroline smiled.

"I'm always fun," Damon said.

"No, you're always broody and sarcastic. Fun and silly are not words used to describe Damon Salvatore."

"And yet you don't kick me out of your bed."

"Well, you're a good pillow," Caroline turned around and called to the bartender, "Bartender, bourbon for this manly man." Caroline turned back to Damon, "Better?"

"Much."

"You really should work on your insecurities about your masculinity."

"I do not have insecurities, Caroline."

"None?"

"Maybe one," Damon suddenly turned serious, "Why am I here, Care?"

"Because I wanted to celebrate my twenty-first birthday with my boyfriend. Oh, and Elena and Stefan need me gone to decorate for the surprise party. What's wrong with that?"

"No, why are you with me? You weren't particularly fond of me after you were turned."

"We've been together for six months and you're just asking me this? You really are a manly man," she said as the bartender placed down a glass of bourbon on the bar.

"I used and abused you, and yet here I am in an actual relationship with you."

"Broody Damon never leaves for long. Haven't you figured it out yet?"

"You think we'd be having this conversation right now if I had?"

"Damon, you're not the same guy who came to Mystic Falls to get his girlfriend out of a tomb. Somewhere along the way, you started caring about people and what happens to them. The Damon who compelled me is completely different from the Damon that I enjoy kissing." Caroline put a hand on his cheek and pressed her lips to his. He pressed his forehead to hers. "Okay?" she asked.

"Okay," Damon said. He pulled away from her. "Now, let's get you half drunk."

Caroline smiled. "Why only half?"

"Because you need to remember the party, Elena went to a lot of trouble and I had to okay way too many things like color schemes and napkin designs. You're going to remember at least half the party in the morning, when you're naked and hungover in bed with me," Damon smiled.

"You'll take advantage of a drunk girl on her birthday?"

"Only the ones in sexy red dresses that were made to be taken off. And you need to put on your best surprised face because Elena will die if she finds out that you know about the party."

A/N: There may or may not be a sequel to this one-shot as I'm really not thrilled with my non-conclusive ending. Also, this was written for the prompt: "I am a man, and men do not consume pink beverages. Get thee gone, woman, and bring me something brown" which is a quote from Cassandra Clare's Immortal Instruments series. Hope you enjoyed it.
