The Milkman's Losses

The milkman stood under the willow tree gazing at the cold marble stone that marked his eldest son's grave. He had once thought that: he would watch both his boys grow old and get married, they would come to him for help with every little problem, and that he would help them to understand their world however Magic had robbed him of all it. If he was being honest he knew he lost both his sons on Colin's eleventh birthday.

After the last guest had left, a woman showed up claiming to be from Hogwarts, a magical school which his sons had been invited to attend. He remembered the joy on his sons' face and the despair hidden in his wife's eyes. He would never again truly understand his sons' world so how could he help them to understand it. So he went out and brought Colin a camera so at least he could see their world.

When Colin left for his first year the milkman wept for lost opportunities, he and his wife had plan to homeschool both of their boys and still would during the summers so that they may have at least a basic understanding of the muggles' world. Now, his son where to spend the majority of their teens under the tutelage of others instead of their parents waited for them to return.

Then Colin had been injured by a creature of magical nature and the milkman knew he couldn't protect either of his boys. So, he despaired when Dennis left as he had lost him as well. He watch has each summer: they came back with magic on their hearts and a fire in their eyes, they back less with boy than man in them, they began to explain less and less of their world. Until the day after Colin's sixteenth birthday when his boys explain they were leaving them for everyone's safety. He hugged both sons and sobbed openly as he realized that they had long ago stop coming to him with every problem.
