Daydreaming

The day had been as any other, with Alice going to school, daydreaming and coming home. She was often dreaming, as it helped her to remember her friends in Wonderland. Not that she forgot them, since she escaped there as often as possible.

On this particular day, however, Alice found it harder than ever to concentrate. Teacher had called on her no less than three times and she wasn't able to answer a single question. Something was going to happen, she knew. 'Why, this is the same feeling that I felt the time before last when the White Rabbit suddenly jumped in my window. A surprise game of croquet with the Queen, and at night too!' Alice smiled at the thought. 'Those flamingos weren't any better behaved than when I first took up the game.' She smiled fondly at her memories of the Queen and their games.

The woman had become like a second mother to Alice, keeping her interested in Wonderland and granting her free reign of the relm. 'Well, I must admit, if I am being truthful to myself, which is always a good policy to keep, that the Queen and her games are not all that has kept my interest in Wonderland.' She smiled again and sighed a wistful sigh as she thought of tea parties in which she never did get any tea, to the lithe man who had kept her entertained and infuriated many a time.

Those dark eyes that could put a hold on any argument they were in the middle of. The slightest sign of tears from her yelling and scolding would break her resolve and leave her wondering what had started the fight in the first place. His red hair that continued to fascinate her, as he insisted it was natural and she insisted that no one could have hair that dark of a red without the use of chemicals. This usually led to one of those arguments that he would eventually win.

"Alice Liddel!" Teacher reprimanded, "If you do not get your head out of the clouds, you will earn yourself a detention."

"Yes, Teacher." Alice responded meekely, lowering her eyes to her assignment. 'I wonder if the Mad Hatter would let me borrow his watch, the one that's still two days slow. Then I could show teacher and get out of detention, since I would have already served it!'

Alice tried to concentrate on her lessons again, but the shining sun and the fluffy clouds soon took her back to her daydreams.
