I feared his soul, with its deep shadows and frailty, would be unequal
to the task laid upon him. I wondered if he could rise to the heights
I demanded, or if his Edain blood would drag him down into shadow. I
was wrong, for when all else failed, when other hearts succumbed to
the darkness, he remained true, steadfast against all evil. Even now,
when I am fading, he does not truly diminish, for his power lies
within himself. I am Vilya, and I am passing beyond this world, but he
has grown beyond need of my blue fire.
