Final Thoughts

Andromeda – end of Season Four

This is not right. This should not be happening.

This should not haveto be happening, Trance Gemini thought frantically to herself, standing alone on the flight deck of the Andromeda Ascendant, face to face with the Magog world star.

But it was. The universe does not always give you what you want, Rev Bem had said more than once. It gives you what you need.

The Andromeda was her home. At least, the place she had been able to call home for the past - how many years was it, she asked herself? Not all that very many, in the cosmic scheme of things. A mere blink of time. Even considering the time she had spent in that other reality before her pretty purple self had exchanged places with her, to go into chaos and let her return to try to work matters out. She had tried, so very hard. Apparently she had failed. Again.

This should not be happening.

She was on the side of the angels - more than that, she thought with a tiny giggle reminiscent of the purple phase of her existence - and her side was not meant to face defeat. Especially not defeat at the hands of the Magog, spurred on by the evil of the Abyss. Bad enough that it had subverted Tyr Anasazi and caused his destruction beyond the portal that led to the Route of Ages.

She could not allow that being to destroy all she held dear. She would fight for it, even if the resultant chaos destroyed her own life.

After all, she thought with a tiny smile, it wasn't as if death were the end. Not for her, and not for any other of the sentient beings she had known over the years of her being.

Good had to prevail. It just had to. That was the way the Universe worked.

After this there would be another time, for them all. Not as they had been, but as they would be. New sentients, in a new Universe, souls linked by what they had all undergone in the past years.

She would be there too.

And next time she would not fail.

Holding the plant before her, she focused on its greenery, and the Andromeda Ascendant plunged into the world star.

Annihilation for the billions of Magog came instantly.

Trance Gemini - or at least the intelligence that had been Trance Gemini - however continued.

After all, she was on the side of the angels.

Always had been, always would be.
