The words weren't there. Her brain was empty. The faint words from the movie outside the door were the only things that could describe her feelings. "Yup, there it is. That little pink plus sign is so unholy." The irony itself was even too much to comprehend. Amy Jurgens sunk to the floor of her bathroom. No. This isn't right. It's defective. Ya, that's it this test is broken. It doesn't work. It can't. Excuses flew through her numb brain, but she knew she was fooling herself. The test DID work and it WAS accurate, but that didn't stop her from denying it. Amy released increasingly shaky breaths trying to calm herself. An unsteady hand reached for the counter to pull her from the floor and the same hand opened the door to free her from the confides of that awful room.

"I have to pretend nothings wrong." Amy muttered to herself. "What was that Ames?" Anne called out to her apparently precious daughter. "N-n-nothing Mom!" came her strangled voice. Ashley turned her head away from her movie for only a moment. She knew Amy wasn't telling the truth when she stuttered, but she kept her uncaring composure and turned back to watch the clerk in the drug store try to pass off as "hip". Amy and Ashley's mom called from the couch, "Come watch with us Ames. It's one of your favorites." Amy restrained her urge to say the movie used to be her favorite. Now it was just a reminder of what she had gotten her self into and she couldn't bare to even turn towards the screen. "That's okay Mom," she replied "I, uh, h-h-have to d-do my w-w-work." She concluded with such a tremor in her voice Ashley couldn't help but wonder what Amy had to lie about. "Well, alright Hun, but don't forget you're only young once and you should be having some fun."

To bad Anne didn't know teenagers definition of FUN nowadays.
