The Vanishing Darkness

One day as the sun was setting,
I was walking down the street.
That's when I saw him,
The cause of my sorrow,
The reason of my pain.

We were in love at one point in time,
But fate had other plans.
Our friendship had changed so suddenly,
And was replaced with a beautiful love,
But our love also ended suddenly,
Only because of our lack of trust.

I saw him one day with a girl I disliked,
I was so mad that I left in tears.
When he called that night to explain what I had witnessed,
I told him it was over,
And we never spoke ever again,

That was when I started to change,
The happiness inside just started to drain,
It felt as though it would never return,
And, that was when darkness took its place.

As I walked down the street,
I caught his eyes with my own,
I could not help but no longer feel anger
The evil had vanished.

All it had taken was one glance of his eyes,
One look of his sad broken face,
All it had taken was his miserable face,
Which was even worse than mine.

Just as we crossed paths something fell out of his pocket,
As I bent to pick it up I saw that it was a picture.
A picture of a happier time in our lives,
When we were together and happy.

That's when I did something I never thought I would do,
I ran to him and embraced him from behind,
I spoke many apologies and he gladly accepted
Our friendship had been restored, just like the happiness did.
