Just a random FFX2 story that popped into my head when I read my older stories... Sorry to my usual Naruto readers, when I find my interest in writing for that fandom, I promise I will!
Disclaimer: I own nothing :D
He didn't realise it at first. She was good at what she did and that scared him. On cold winter nights when the palm trees of Besaid trembled like his thoughts, he slept alone more often than not.
Lulu tried to comfort him with soothing words and dismissing allegations that had been reported to the small island, with constant "She wouldn't do that" or "Yuna's not like that". He had dismissed the rumours at first himself. Why would she dedicate her life to searching for him for this? Why would she give herself to him completely and swear that he was the only one? She wouldn't.
There was no way.
So when Wakka came home one day, pale faced and blank, Tidus assumed that someone was hurt. But no. He would have been very lucky if that was the case. He held out a letter, a few lines of her unmistakable writing, telling him that she loved him so much but you just can't offer me the life I'm seeking. He shook and sat down, staring at the patterned rug on the floor of their home, where she had taken him the night of his return and showed him how many ways there was to love somebody. All of it, for nothing.
The other man was good to her, she said. He made her feel needed. The machine faction was picking up again and he planned on leaving Djose to travel to uncharted territory. He wanted her with him.
He's surprised he didn't realise it sooner, on those cold winter nights when the palm trees of Besaid trembled like his thoughts and he slept alone more often that not. While he was cold, his only heat coming from the woolen blanket, she was kept warm in the heat of the desert, with his arms wrapped around her.
Go raibh maith agat!
