Trying to wash the sins and the sweat from my brow.
It's nearing midnight when the final call to Hanover, New Hampshire, sounds out across the nearly empty Grand Central Station. She's not quite sure what she'll find when she gets there, but it doesn't matter – she's heard about the academy, and it seems perfect. She'll be far from the city; and the sex, lies and scandal that come hand in hand with it. She tries hard not to think of whom she'll be leaving behind, because although she'll be shot of Georgina, she'll also be far, far away from the ones she loves. Her heart sinks low in her chest when Blair crosses her mind. Blair; her best, albeit bitchy friend, whose boyfriend she slept with and may be a little tiny bit in love with. Eric! Oh, how she'll miss her brother – his dry humour and sharp wit and all-round charm that makes her grin until her smile almost touches her ears. And Nate, her Natie; the boyfriend of her best friend and the very boy she thinks she's in love with. But she needs this distance between her and the shining city lights, needs it like she needs oxygen in her lungs. The city beckons to her with dirty, dishonest, tantalizing, temptations, but it's the fresh, new, clean slate Hanover offers that she yearns for. So she picks up the baby blue Balenciaga bag stuffed full of her essentials, and boards the train. His sparkling green eyes haunt her as she sleeps through the journey.
