Sarah Jane Smith sighed, slumping into the over stuffed chair in the attic. Life seemed to always be full of ups and downs and today was no exceptions. Just this morning, she had said good-bye to the Doctor, again, and now here she was tidying up the house from being shook to pieces while the whole Earth was moved from the Medusa Cascade back to where it belonged orbiting around their lovely sun, Sol. She has sent Luke out with Maria and Clyde for a while to do whatever it was young people did these days when not at home. Luke, no doubt, would tell her all about it when he got back.

Running. It was always about running when it came to the Doctor. She propped her feet up on a hassock and laid her head back. It felt good to stop now.

She smiled thoughtfully. Was that it then? Was that really it? Was she ready to stop running?

It felt wonderful, despite the being scared witless part and Davros being there and the whole of reality being on the brink of destruction, but being on the Tardis again. It had changed. It wasn't exactly the same as her time there, but then the Doctor was a different man then, different men, to put a finer point on it.

But being there, with him, and the others: Rose, dear sweet Rose, and Jackie and Martha and Donna and Mickey and Jack. Jack. She felt herself blushing a little.

All of them companions, but none of them except Donna with him now. Not with him, but each of them with their eyes opened and now protecting Earth, each in their own way. Martha had been with U.N.I.T, but she had a feeling from the way Jack was talking to Martha and Mickey that she wouldn't be surprised if they ended up working for Torchwood.

She smiled to herself a little. Donna. Now, there was a wonder. She gave as good as she got and rightly so. The Doctor always did do best with someone to keep him in line. She could see a little of herself in Donna. Well, her back in the day she had been his Companion.

She sighed. That's where it was now. Life back the way it was. The news around the world was already reporting the usual spin that was put on things. Hallucinogenic in the water. Mass hysteria. It really didn't happen. They were just imagining it all. People forgot, but she wouldn't. She couldn't. Someone had to keep an eye for the rest of the stupid, idiotic, wonderful, beautiful human race.
