IF YOU'RE NOT THE ONE
"I'm sorry, Gil, but I can't stay with you."
"Why not?"
"Because it wasn't meant to be. *We*
weren't meant to be."
"Then why does this feel so right?" Grissom waited for an answer but got
none. "Catherine, if you're not the one, then why does my hand
fit yours so perfectly? If you're not for me, then why does your name resound
in my head everytime you're not aroun..."
"Grissom! Grissom, wake up!"
Grissom's eyes shot open as the sound of his name interrupted his dream.
"Catherine?" He looked at her in a daze, sleep still
controlling most of his senses.
"Hi." Catherine answered with an amused grin as she watched Grissom sit
up, wincing slightly at the pain his couch must've
brought to his
back.
"What?" Grissom frowned, noticing the unexplained grin on her face.
"Nice sleep?" When Grissom didn't answer,
she continued, "Must've been filled with nice dreams."
Grissom's eyes widened as the contents of his dream began to float into his
mind, "Dreams?"
"Yes, people usually experience them while they sleep." Catherine smirked
and sat down beside him on the couch, "So what were you
dreaming about?"
"Nothing." Grissom got up and walked over to
his desk, shuffling some papers around, pretending to be
occupied.
"Nothing, huh? Sure didn't
seem like nothing. You were mumbling pretty intensely, actually."
Grissom turned to face her, "I was?"
"You were."
"Did I say anything...incriminating?"
"Are there incriminating things that you could say?"
"Of course not."
"Hmm." Catherine headed out the door but stopped before she
reached the hall, "Oh by the way, can I see your hand for a second?"
Grissom, not realizing what Catherine was doing, held out his hand.
Catherine placed her hand in his and smiled, "Well what do you know, our
hands do fit perfectly." She flashed him a cheeky grin and gave
him a quick kiss before sauntering out of his office, leaving Grissom in
stunned silence.
