Summary: He's Chad Dylan Cooper. He doesn't care about anyone but himself. And things weren't about to change just because some girl from Wisconsin came bouncing around and making his stomach sick with butterflies.
Author's Note: I can't even believe I am writing this, but Sonny with a Chance is such a bad show, I had to rewrite it. Seriously.
Standard Disclaimer Applied.
Chad Dylan Cooper (insert-dramatic-gasp-here) doesn't do losing. In fact, Chad Dylan Cooper is pretty sure that losing doesn't do him either.
But, apparently the universe didn't get this memo because there was Chad with his butt (million-dollar butt, that is) on the floor staring up and at a posing Sonny Monroe (some new clown who tends to wear a fat-suit over from Chuckle City) exclaiming, "Peace out suckers!"
And even though Chad doesn't want to admit it, for a split second (maybe even a millisecond) Chad felt what might have been compassion when he saw Sunny- or Rainy or whatever her name is- fall on the floor and cradling her ankle in her hands (though he's not really sure what he really felt, because he's only read about compassion in the scripts of Mackenzie Falls, so he's only assuming).

The little things in life –or as Sonny puts it, "the beautiful things in life"- do not please someone like Chad Dylan Cooper. Chad had expectations, requests-- demands.
Which is why he simply didn't understand why someone like Sonny, wouldn't come to his birthday party. Sure, he only invited her because he wanted to rub it in the face of her other lame So Random! cast mates, but still. That wasn't the point.
The point was that Chad Dylan Cooper did not take no for an answer, and this Sonny-girl wasn't about to go around starting this new trend….not matter how giddily he felt when she smiled.

Chad holds high standards. Very high.
Which is why instead of just accepting Sonny to play the role of…well, Sonny, he made her audition, just like everybody else.
And really, was it his fault that ultimately, Selena was a better actress than Sonny was at playing herself? Never mind the fact that Chad thought that Selena couldn't stand a chance against the bright aura that seemed to just ooze out of Sonny when she was happy.
But everything turned out for the best either way, with Selena quitting and Sonny admitting that she though Chad had sparkly eyes (well, eye.)
And though he would never say it out loud, there was more to Sonny that he liked, other than just her hair.
Ending Note: Pffft. Wow that was lame.
