Antonio smiled. He was going to visit Lovino today. He was more than excited when he saw that he had nothing on his schedule, and immediately started preparing for his visit.
He decided he wanted to surprise Lovino when he saw him today, so he had no idea that Antonio would visit. That made it more fun. Antonio liked surprising Lovino.
Antonio made a quick trip to a shop to buy Lovino some flowers, more to embarrass him than anything.
He bought as many flowers as he could until he knew Lovino would turn red. Antonio loved that.
Lovino, being the shy person he was, turned red at any gesture of love thrown at him. And Antonio loved that very much.
Smiling, Antonio walked up to the person at the register, ready to pay for the flowers he had chosen. The man smiled up at him, sadly. "Oh those are beautiful flowers. Are they for someone special?" He asked, as Antonio gave him the money he owed. "Yes, They are. I know he likes these." The man sighed as he stared at the flowers. "You know, my daughter used to like these flowers too. She sadly died a few years back of a disease her doctors couldn't cure. In fact they didn't know what it was. But they still always remind me of her." Antonio gave him a sympathetic look. "I'm sorry. Good people always die too soon." The man nodded. "Seems so..." Antonio smiled once more. "I'd better get going. But you have a nice day." "You too." The man got back into work mode as Antonio walked off.
Antonio held the flowers close to him. Lovino would be so excited to see him again. He walked towards the place he knew his Lovi would be. Antonio creaked open a gate and walked through freshly cut grass. "Ah, there you are Lovino " Antonio smiled at the tombstone sitting in front of him. "I haven't seen you in sometime. I'm sorry I haven't been visiting lately. I wish I could see you every day." A tear rolled down his cheek. "Just like we used to..."
He remember the gift he had brought. "I got you flowers, I know you like these. I still remember..." He set them down gently beside the few other bouquets he'd gotten him in the past. "These old ones are dying, aren't they, love?" He picked at their petals slightly, watching at a few crumbled off. "I think I'll move them somewhere else. So you can always look beautiful."
"But for now... I'll miss you. I miss you more than anything." Antonio allowed more tears to fall. "If only we had known. I'd still have you with me… I never wanted to lose you." He thought back to the nice man at the register he met. "Maybe I should have talked to him more. We both lost someone we loved to something unknown to us." The old flowers crumbled in his hands as he angrily thought of the mysterious illness that took Lovino from him.
He stood up, ready to take his leave, and gave a bright smile towards the lonely, gray tombstone.
"Te amo."
Oops, I like character death.
