It was a long journey after their last duel, Lands End Cavern… the Shane gang had won, again, but it was hard, they just had a few bruises on their faces and arms, their clothes were dusty, and some parts of their shirts were a bit torn.
They had taken the long way through the jungle, it was the safest road they could take… well… that's was Pronto say though…
Eli Shane and Trixie Sting were at front, leading the way. Both were exhausted and faintly weak, their backs ached with stress and falls. They were barely talking to each other, just lost in their own thoughts… Kord and Pronto were behind them, talking and talking… about what? Well… you'll see.
"Do you really think Eli likes Trixie?" Kord whispered to Pronto, who nodded eagerly.
"Of course, we molenoids can sense it." The molenoid replied, just to make the cave troll raise an eyebrow. "You sure?" he asked again. Pronto's look of pride vanished and he lowered his shoulders. "No, Pronto just invented that." Pronto said, ashamed.
Kord smirked and started laughing.
"What's so funny?" Eli asked tuning his mecha around and facing them.
"Nothing!" Pronto and Kord said quickly looking at their leader, who had risked himself more in the mission. Eli just rolled his eyes and smiled. "Yeah, sure…" he muttered as he returned to his original position.
"Hey Trix, do you know what's wrong with those two?" the Shane asked Trixie while pointing behind them.
Trixie faced him and shrugged, there a small smile on her face. "No idea, they can be strange sometimes…" she pointed out quietly. Eli agreed with her and nods.
Trixie suddenly sneezed. "Achoo!"
"Bless you." Eli said as he looked at Trixie, who rubbed her nose with the back of her hand and coughed. "Thanks…" She said quietly once more. She shook her head and felt a shivered cross her spine and she now had a stuffy nose.
"You ok Trix? You weren't like that a few minutes ago." Eli pointed out, worried.
Trixie shook her head. "I don't… know…" she said.
Eli guessed Trixie needed paper so he looked through the supply box that was attached to his mecha, and took out some tissue paper. "Here you go." Eli said as he passed the paper to Trixie, who thanked him and blew her nose.
Soon, Kord and Pronto caught up with them, and they were surprised to see Trixie sick.
"Bro, what happened to her?" Kord asked Eli. He just shrugged and looked at Trixie worried. "I-I don't know…" he said. "She wasn't like this a minute ago. We should look for a doctor in the next town we pass through. " He added. "Pronto, where are we?" Eli asked the mole.
Pronto took out his map from behind and started looking for their location. "We're very close to Futuria cavern." He informed the rest while putting his map away.
"How ling till we get there?" the blue haired boy asked again.
"Hm…" Pronto sniffed the air. "Pronto says in fifteen minutes." He replied.
Eli nodded and looked at Trixie; he said something to her but noticed that she had a high fever. "We better hurry. She's getting worse by the minute."
Trixie was getting weaker, her body could no longer stand to keep her upright or stay on the mecha. So Eli decided to carry her on his mecha.
The Shane gently grabbed Trixie and put her in front of him, her head resting upon his chest. This made Eli blush a bit, but ignored it.
Burpy hopped down from Eli's shoulder and perched on Trixie's, the Infurnus slug rubbed its head on the girl's cheek gently, comforting her. Trixie smiled a bit, she was barely awake though.
Eli smiled to that gesture of comfort and put Trixie's mecha to autopilot.
"Let's go!"
The gang soon arrived at Futuria Cavern. Trixie and Burpy were sleep, they seemed very tired.
"I'll call Kate to see if she knows of any doctor." Eli said calling the young scientist.
Kate: "hello?"
Eli: "Hi Kate. Eli here, I need your help"
Kate: "What's wrong?"
Eli: "Is there a hospital around here? I need your help to find one."
Kate: "What happened? Is everyone ok?"
Eli: "Trixie suddenly fell ill, she's sleeping now."
Kate: "Come over to my lab. I might be able to help."
Eli: "Thanks Kate. We'll be there soon."
Kate: No prob. But hurry, it's getting cold. Bye"
Eli hung up and told the others that Kate would help. They nodded and headed to where the young scientist was.
Trixie was clinging to Eli; she had been like that since Eli put her on his mecha. Burpy woke and lit his head up to warm Trixie up, as he sensed her cold.
Since the gang knew Futuria Cavern for a time, it wasn't so hard to find Kate's place.
They got there and Kord knocked on the door and it soon opened.
"Come in!" that was the voice of Tobias.
The Shane gang walked in, Eli carrying Trixie in his arms.
"What happened to her?" Tobias asked as he saw Trixie, she was breathing slowly.
Eli shook his head and Kord had to explain what had happened. Tobias nodded once he knew the story,
"Kate!" Tobias suddenly yelled.
"What? What's wrong?" Kate asked startled as she came rushing to the room. "Oh, the Shane gang." She said. "Where's Trixie?" she asked.
Eli held Trixie up and noticed she was very pale, perhaps too pale. Eli then passed Trixie to Kate.
"I'll see what I can do." Kate said carrying Trixie and hurrying her to her lab. the others started to follow but Tobias stopped them. "Kate needs some space and she might do something wrong if you stay staring at her. Understood?" he asked harshly. Everybody nodded and went to sit down.
Eli had his face buried in his hands, completely worried. Kord sat beside him and tried to cheer him up, but Eli was way too depressed to hear the encouraging words of Kord.
Kord and Pronto were surprised to see Eli like that, but they couldn't do anything. Or could they?
Suddenly, you could hear Kate's voice scared and desperate. Eli jolted up and ran over to the lab and looked through the small window on the door.
Tobias was with Kate, trying to help her with Trixie.
Suddenly, Trixie's body rose as she gave a frightening and deafening scream.
Kord, Pronto, Kate, Tobias and Eli were horrified as Trixie's scream kept going, then a white ghostly like figure started to rise from Trixie's body.
Kord, Pronto and Kate screamed and fainted when they saw Trixie's spirit come out of her body.
The ghostly Trixie figure looked at Eli and walked over to him, touching his face with her hands and later disappearing with another scream.
Eli was real scared when that happened, but once the ghost was gone, he ran over to Trixie and held her in his arms, bringing her close to his chest.
Trixie was cold, her breathing shallow, and her skin so pale that it looked white…
"What I am going to do…?" Eli asked himself.
Tobias, who didn't faint, checked Trixie's blood pressure and heart beat. "She won't make it." He said sadly.
Eli's heart skipped a beat when he heard that. "W-What do you mean by that?" Eli asked. "How long does she have?"
"2 days, 12 hours and 59 minutes." Tobias said. "But I doubt she survives, but…"
"But what?" Eli asked wanting to know the end.
"The Well of Souls, her spirit might be there…"
"The Well of Souls?" Eli asked as he watched Tobias help the fainted people.
"It's a place that most people believe a myth, but it's where the spirits go when the "Chosen", the god that guards the spirits, chooses a spirit and takes it to the Well. I don't know much about it, but the Shadow clan dose." Tobias said. "I would recommend you to go with them and check things out." He advised.
Eli nods. "I'll do that. I don't want to lose her." He said gesturing at Trixie.
"Take these. They have info about what you're looking for." Tobias said handing Eli many books.
"Oof… they're heavy" Eli muttered. "of course they are…" Tobias said. Eli rolled his eyes.
"Good luck Eli Shane." Tobias wished. "Always remain with hope…"
"Thanks. Good bye Tobias. When the others wake, tell them what happened." Eli said before leaving.
Eli got on his mecha, the books attached to the mecha and left as soon as possible to the hideout, where he would read a bit and then go to Shadow Clan Territory.
"Don't worry Trixie… I'll save you…"
