Disclaimer: I do not own Avatar: The Last Airbender or any of the characters.

Hello, readers...er, if I have any! This is a one-shot I made about Jet saving Zuko. You could say I am shipping them, but, no, I am not implying they are/will eventually be one. Although... ;)

Sorry if this is fast paced. I wrote this for a contest and there was a limited amout of words. I may post an extended version in the future or I may create a couple more chapters, but for now, it is just a one-shot, thanks! Enjoy c: -alleadbuch

Have Faith in Me

It was a surprise appearance to Zuko when the teenaged boy came to visit him, let alone break him out of his rusting cell. Not in two months had he one visitor-aside from his sister- and he had not at all expected for it to be Jet.

It all happened when it came down to it. What was the place called again? Oh, yes. Lake Laogai. It was the only image that ran through his mind ever since the event.

One minute he was tracking down the Avatar's bison, and in the next, the Avatar stood before him. He had not been looking at him, though. Across the long, chambered room, a lanky man with ebony tinted facial hair was smirking at the Avatar. Zuko's eye trailed across the room, spotting Jet, his one-time, short termed friend.
They all turned their attention to Zuko, gasping and murming words like, "What is Zuko doing here?" His poorly failed attempt to back out of the room was caused by not only than his sister, who had dropped from the dark depths of the ceiling.
"Zuzu," Azula spoke in her maliced-filled voice, "don't leave. The party is just beginning." A smile curved at the end of her pale, pink lips, and her hazel eyes glinted. Instantly, she started to pumble him with her punches and kicks, which were ignited with her perilous, blue fire.
Zuko opened his eyes, and groggily sat up. His back ached with a throbbing sensation, sending shears of pain down his spine. His skin was covered with burns that were unattended to, and his once jet black body suit was now a crimson gi.
He was still distinguishing his thoughts from reality, not noticing the young girl that crouched outisde the bars of his cell. An eerie grin was currupting her face, and she twiddled with a strand of ebony hair. Zuko finally acknowledged her presence and gave her a menacing glare.
"Azula!" he shouted. The memories of what happened flooded through his mind. iLake Laogai, Avatar, bison, man, Jet, Azula, fire./i His head pounded from all the recollection of thoughts that flooded through him at once.
"Don't fret, Zuzu. You're home, like you've always wanted to be."

It all led up to this moment. In a blackened cloak, Jet stood outside his jail cell, wheat straw in mouth, picking the lock with his two hooks. The bars swung open, revealing the wooden planks that were in the hallway to Zuko.
"Come on," Jet whispered, snatching Zuko's arm. Zuko turned his head to the side. Was it only a few months ago that this very boy tried to accuse him and his uncle of being firebenders? And now, he was rescuing him? "What?" Jet questioned, shifting the piece of straw to the other side of his mouth. "You have faith in me, right?"
A smile appeared on Zuko's face, and he was soon grinning ear to ear. "Yes."
