"Bye Connie" Steven said leaning down to kiss her as always before she leaves. As Connie was standing on her tiptoes to kiss the young man in front of her, Pearl had a flashback. She had seen this scene hundreds of times as the two had been dating for years. Yet today of all days triggered it. Today was the day Rose passed, the day Steven came into existence.
It was 10 thousand years prior, as Rose was learning more of earth's nature and beauty she discovered love. She learned of kissing and physical intimacy from humans.
One night there was a certain Pearl she could not get out of her mind. She was eager to teach her how to kiss.
Yet when she arrived at the temple she saw her with Fire Opal. She saw her laughing and blushing. Her most endearing light blue blush that was meant for only her. With seeing that a spark of contempt and jealousy arose within her. She knew that Fire had liked Pearl. That she was after her as a life-long partner.
In her fit of jealousy she fused with Pearl and ran off. Leaving Fire Opal to be broken hearted.
As soon as they were gone and unfused Rose was determined to teach Pearl how to kiss and the other aspects of physical intimacy which the humans hold so dear.
It was all so fast for Pearl she had no clue what was going. Or what had gotten into Rose. Then Rose kissed her. She just kissed her soft, short, and sweet. She had no clue what to think of it. It was disgusting yet amazing at the same time. With Rose it was new intriguing a little exciting and alluring. Yet she knew with anyone else it seemed utterly disgusting. To press their faces together and exchange salvia in such a primitive matter. Although with Rose she wanted more. It was weird and strange and yet somehow still she wanted more. It was an insatiable thirst that could not be quenched. The more she got of Rose the more she wanted. Then it would happen, they would just fuse. Pearl was utterly delighted she felt powerful when this happened, like she meant something. She also felt loved when fused with her. Rose on the other hand was frustrated. There was nothing more that she loved and appreciated than fusing for love. Yet that's not what she wanted at the time. She wanted to enjoy the experience with her but it just wasn't possible. That's when Rose started turning to the male humans.
The flashback only lasted a second. However to Pearl it felt like an eternity as she slowly relived the memory.
