Do you believe in love at first sight?
Or should I walk by you again?
"Hiiiiisssssssss!"
As part of my act, I raised my hands high above my head and let my white cloak fall back. The audience gasped. I bet they didn't expect to see a boy with snake scales quite like this!
I looked down to see the ground, the stage, and the people screaming and scrambling to get out the door. I always loved my act! It was like a Halloween prank!
But, to my surprise, I saw something that I had never seen before.
My snake was slithering on the floor, scaring the crowd away as I had told it to, but she wasn't going in the right direction. In fact, she was heading straight for a girl!
I began to panic. This wasn't the plan! I was worried. Was the girl going to freak out? Then, I watched in horror as my snake started to wrap around her legs! Quicker than usual, I got down on my belly and slithered down the pole. I slithered fast, but didn't hurt my belly even if I was on a pole.
As if I wasn't surprised enough, the girl was completely calm! She was petting my snake, whispering softly to it. The snake relaxed and she began to unwrap it from her legs.
That's when I noticed just how pretty the girl was.
She had wavy, light brown, messy hair that was cut short a few inches above her shoulders. On the left side of her head, a bundle of orange feathers were sticking out. She looked like an Indian girl! On the other side of her head was a little red bow. She was wearing a tight black shirt with little pink hearts. In the middle of each heart was a skull. Along with that, she wore a studded belt, baggy boy jeans, and some basketball court shoes. She was smiling, which revealed that she had a mouth full of braces. Her eyes looked like big, brown orbs of chocolate. She looked so cute!
When I got up off the floor to get my snake back, I noticed just how short she was! She was only around 4' 11" or maybe 5 feet tall. It made her even cuter—if that was even possible!
"Looks like you found my snake!" I called out to her.
Her head snapped into my direction. She broke into a huge smile. "More like she found me."
I laughed. "Sorry about that. Tell you what, I'll show you around the Cirque to make up for my snake crushing your legs like that."
Still smiling, she said, "I'd love to! But you don't owe me anything; snakes just love me."
If only she knew just how true that was.
