Nearly Forgotten Moments
Hello, everyone! :D
This is for 4EvErAtPeAcE's Short Story Contest! It might be really late and I am so sorry if it is, but this one really came from the heart. It's in Sonny's POV. Well, not really, but it kind of is. Well, enjoy!
There's a funny thing about trying to forget about something:
It seems to stay in your mind forever.
Those moments when everything seems to go wrong. The moment when hopes, dreams, and wishing on stars seem like such foreign ideas. That one moment when everything you've clung to crumbles and you're left with nothing and it feels like the story is over.
That's when you have to search for the next chapter. The next opened door. And when you find it, you gain hope again. You have sweet dreams again. And you feel like wishing on every single star in the dark mass of sky.
But just when you get that one last chance, the single memory (the person you gave everything to: your heart, your body, your soul) you were trying to forget, reminds you why that last chapter was so long. You didn't want it to end. They gave you the one thing you thought you never had.
Love.
And when you remember, you break. (You didn't think you'd forget that easily, did you?) You're reminded of everything you once had and it nearly kills you.
So you cling to the closest thing and slowly realize that it was him.
And you wished that you had never let go.
