"America! America!"

Turning around, America stopped abruptly and stared at the smaller nation before him. He breathed out slowly, closing his eyes and preparing himself. Then he glared at the other country. "What do you want?"

He watched as the other country drew up short, looking taken aback. "I came to see you."

"I don't want to see you anymore." America turned on his heel and started walking again.

"Hey, hey wait!"

America stopped again, and looked over his shoulder. "Can't you understand? I'm done with you! I don't want to be part of you ever again! I hate you! You used to be so much fun, you used to be great! And now… Now you are just pushing too hard!"

"What do you mean?"

"I'm leaving you England."

England froze, the features on his face hardened in a mask of shock. "What?"

"I want my freedom. With you I feel like I'm in a cage."

Shaking his head, England tried to block out what he was hearing. "America – I've raised you. I've fed you, I've read you bedtime stories! What is this?"

"This is me saying that I've tried to compromise. This is me saying that I'm through."

England stared at his little brother, wheels turning in his head. Finally, they matched up.

"I won't let you!" England cried, launching himself towards the younger country. "No, you can't! I'll fight to keep you!"

"Then fight we shall. I'll see you on the battle field, England."

And with that America left, leaving his former brother alone.
