Hey! This is chapter 1 of my first ever fanfic, so be nice! :P
Tom's time was mainly taken up by school, so he never had any time to play with his friends. He didn't mind, though. He just wanted to get on with life, and get a job. Although he never knew it, he also wanted a wife. He had never been interested in girls. He just thought that he would be fine on his own, with no partner. But he didn't realise that just a few months later, that would all have changed.
It was a Monday, and he had just began a new year in school. It was all the same, with the same friends and the same schoolwork, except for a new teacher, a new classroom and... a new girl. She was a Pikachu, named Lia. This was no ordinary Pikachu. He felt something change inside of him, almost as if a switch had been pulled in his mind. She was beautiful, with yellow, smooth-looking fur, with a bow on her head. Tom knew that an Oshawott like him would never be attractive to her, so he never bothered talking to her. That was, until it was break-time. He immediately sat down at the tree he had always been sitting at at break-times. He opened his bottle and water, and began reading a book. He saw Lia talk to one of his friends, Frank, a Mudkip. Lia and Frank both walked off together. Tom was jealous.
Tom picked up his bottle of water and left his book sitting behind the tree. He quickly walked over to Frank.
"Hey, Frank." he said, trying to sound cheerful.
"Oh, hey Tom." replied the smiling Mudkip.
"Who's the girl?" Tom whispered into Frank's ear.
"Lia. We are friends now."
Tom saw Lia look at him. Her eyes were shining, like pearls. Her fur was swaying from the slight breeze. Lia smiled at Tom. He then looked away. Why was he still walking with Frank? He was obviously jealous of him, and being near him wouldn't help in the slightest. But, he got lucky. Frank quickly sprinted to the bathroom. Tom and Lia continued walking, not speaking. Lia slowly turned her head to look at him.
"Hey, uh... Er, Tom, is it?" she said slowly.
"Yeah, Tom." he replied. Lia stopped, so Tom did aswell. She started at him, smiling, almost as if... she was attracted to him...
